I know the precusors for the major neurochemicals, except dopamine.

5-htp = serotonin
Choline = acetycholine, etc.
Dopamine = ?

I'm finding that my mental energy levels during a psychedelic high are very dependent on dopamine levels. When they start to exhaust, I have eye rolling during intense visuals and a strong desire to go to sleep even though I can't. Following a strong psychedelic high, I can be mentally exhausted for days and have a stronger need to sleep more often. The issue does not seem to be serotonin related as my mood is fine, it's just that the raw foundation for mental processing seems to be depleted.

I've taken selegiline which blocks dopamine re-uptake, but I find it gives me headaches and hinders my ability to sleep properly. I would rather figure out some kind of supplement or nutritional source that provides dopamine precusors. And yes, I know that the best solution is to avoid psychedelics for a time, and I also do that; but I would like another aid. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Perhaps L-tyrosine is safer then?

It is.
However I don't believe eating foods with high tyrosine will significantly affect dopamine levels. Dietary tyrosine is certainly necessary for synthesis of dopamine in the body, however the amino acid uptake process is highly competitive and structurally related aminos compete for carrier molecules. Even supplementing tyrosine dosen't raise dopamine levels all that much(or at all in some individuals).

l-phenylalinine

Phenylalanine is converted into tyrosine via enzymes.
Supplementing this would yield similar results(or in this case, lack of results) to supplementing tyrosine. That is to say, both phenylalanine and tyrosine will be almost completely catabolised before becoming dopamine.
^ So then there's no real solution here?
Nothing beyond what you already know.
