Does anyone else find that sometimes the method of use is just as addictive?

I have noticed since changing methods of having crystal meth i have become just as addicted to my method of use (i.v) as the drug itself.. Has that happened to anyone else? I will appreciate any replys i recieve.. Ta bluelighter's
 
absolutely!

the trick is to recognise this early and break the cycle before it becomes all-consuming.

I've shot crystal meth into my veins more times than I can count, but it was smoking (via the glass pipe) that remained my preferred ROA. I was addicted to the whole ritual of loading up the pipe, holding the flame underneath the bowl, watching the shards melt down, and breathing in the vapour. Ever since I quit meth, my cigerette smoking has increased heaps - so yeah, smoking drugs definitely seems to be my addiction.
 
Of course, I feel like most addicts are also addicted to the process. I even love driving out to my dealer to get my pills! And especially scraping the coating off (OC80s), grinding them down, and feeling that clean white powder hit my nostrils and light up a cig :) I. Fuckin. Love it.
 
Not quite the same thing, but I love smoking... weed, tobacco, or even something that won't give a buzz/high of any kind. Smoking is just enjoyable.
 
Yes I love the ritual, the copping, the cooking, the needle. I often cook what I know is nothing left, like the residue from 1 bags worth that i pulled up all the shit last night even used a drop or two of water to get all the residue, but there's some bit of sticky brown shit left, even knowing there's not enough to get my sick off even I put 80 units of water in the cooker, pull up those few micrograms and bang it, simply cause I love seeing the blood rush up and down and i get a bit of psychological rush just from the action of the liquid going in succesfully w/o missing.
 
very true!!! i had this convo w/ my bf the other day bc he set it up for me and i was pissed. ya i love the high but im just as addicted to the ritual of getting it ready, cooking it, and all that as i am to the high. its the OCD in me i guess but i have to do it my way or it kills my high a lil bit. and the flash gives me just as much of a rush as pushing the plunger. ahhh even talking about it...its like when you have really good sex and a few days later u think about it and get like a tingle through your body...its the same way when i think about the process / and actual act of getting high. sorry to ramble but im glad im not the only one ;)

Hell yea it is. I've found that ESPECIALLY when I'm on opiates or any psychedelic I just love to smoke, simply to smoke. I'd pretty much smoke anything, hell, I might even smoke a cigar (ew!) if I was high enough! 8)
 
Of course you're not the only one- I don't think anyone would ever pick up a needle if it didn't get them high. It is more the fact that you just crossed a line asking yourself if you really are shooting up that has so much stigma and mystery around it.
 
While detoxing I'd go tie my arm off like a crazy person. I had no rigs, no dope, just a friggin phone charger. So yah, I'd say so.

lol, yeah my wife loves plugging. I have to say I enjoy the ritual of grinding up the pills in my mortar and pestle and whatnot--start getting a rush as I'm getting everything ready for her!
 
I totally agree this happens. Personally I love smoking drugs in general. I favour it as a ROA for meth even at times where it is much more convenient to snort, there have been numerous occasions where I scored meth and REALLY wanted to use but saved it all until I had access to a pipe. Another example would be marijuana, I will often smoke a ridiculous amount of bongs despite the fact I don't find it really gets me much higher after I am already good and stoned, but its just because I like ripping bongs I keep smoking.

I also used to have a bit of a snorting fetish and loved snorting drugs. I find with all drugs I use often I develop a sort of ritual that I come to enjoy, I suppose it is due to positive reinforcement given you are constantly doing these rituals right before using drugs to play on your brains reward systems and it reinforces the behaviour.

I don't shoot up but I have heard and read of many cases where IV drug addicts were addicted to the process of shooting up as well as their actual DOC.
