alright 2 questions about videogames:

1. do you like puzzles?

2. do you like jumping puzzles?

my answers:

1. i hate puzzles. they totally kill the pace when you're sitting there trying to flip switches in the right order or whatever other bullshit task they involve. i'm not a fan of the much loved zelda series due to my hatred of puzzles.

2. fuck jumping puzzles.
ya it's fucking awesome to die 20 times in a row to make a god damn jump. FUCK

Puzzles are fun when thrown into the mix if you are playing an action, shooter, or role playing game.

But yeah sometimes jumping puzzles are downright rage inducing when the camera doesn't cooperate. Also when the puzzle requires precise timing with little room for error.

fun....Prince of Persia
not so fun...Tomb Raider

They're ok - I remember those of the Resident Evil series, they were fun and not too difficult.

HELL yeah! It is one of the main reasons I love the Silent Hill and Tomb Raider (1 - 5) series so much! (Barring a certain piano ;)).

I also enjoyed the Resident Evil series solely for that. The Zombie stuff was just in the way.

Well if they are ridiculously difficult I will give up quick since I SUCK at puzzles, just dont have great dexterity or skills building ANYTHING.

Yes i lick puzzles s long as they are slick well executed and not unnecessarily drawn out. The temples in FF X are an example of the kind of puzzles i dislike, lots of walking for no reason etc.

Yeah I quite like puzzles especially those that need some thought process. The type of puzzle or "side game" that requires extreme dexterity such as racing through an obstacle course in TR........I will have a quick go for shits and giggles but Im more interested in the game.

Those that force me to do them in order to move forward.........well I have to do them but usually they are not that hard anyways.

Puzzles in games that involve some thought are fine, so long as they don't detract from the feel of the game or affect the pace too much. Nothing wrong with the odd tower of hanoi-style puzzle for example or little brain teaser, so long as the only way to solve it isn't some infuriating, nonesensical solution... or involves glueing random inventory items together...

I'm not that big on "jumping" puzzles etc that require amazing dexterity, reflexes, or 200 attempts though. Maybe I'm just getting old and losing those finely honed button mashing skills?

I love riddle like puzzles.. anything that is complicated and requires alot of attention to be payed to what is happening, in what order etc.

I loved Portal for this, it combined physics and puzzles.

In games that follow an in-depth story, and to progress you need to solve the riddle/puzzle for me are the most enjoyable.. its like a challenge for my mind, a break from the mindless killing or running around and a chance to focus my attention in solving something intricate or complex. :D

Most games these days for me are far to quick and easy to finish, so anything that makes it harder is great. Games like Oblivion and Dragon Age were awesome for this, unbelievable amount of content, puzzles, mind-games and storyline.
