Absolutely. I hate smoking in social situations because I clam up and sometimes become insanely self-conscious. I only enjoy smoking alone or with a couple close friends.
That feeling of self-consciousness will subside over time. The longer you're a weed smoker, the less anxiety you'll feel around people.
When I was a kid [15-25], I'd get a little self-conscious around people when I was ripped...even if the other people might have been tokin right along with me. I'd clam-up & not say much...1/2 the time thinking I might say something stupid.
As I've aged [55], I can take a few blasts from the bong, get totally wasted, & still be able to carry on a convo with my banker, lawyer, accountant or my 18 yr old son [who doesn't drink, smoke weed, or smoke cigs]. You get to a point where you realize that even if 1 of them suspects you of being blasted on some Super Silver Haze or some Northern Lights, who gives a fuck? If they have a problem with my weed tokin, fuck 'em.
Now my son gets a kick outta seeing 'pops' blasted, as he says I am a riot when stoned. Although he wants no part of it [& I respect that], I love to hang with him when I'm blown. He's got 1 helluva sense-of-humor & keeps me laughing the entire time.
You'll grow out of your self-conscious feelings while around others, believe me!!
