I feel really great when using ritalin and concerta. like everything in my life gets in order. I can get stuff done, socialize, be relaxed.
however, I know that it might just be my excuse for being lazy etc. and my mind's illusion
I'm worried to go to the doc because I obviously don't get them legally and it's weird to say "I think ritalin might help"
how do you know if you really have ADHD or it just feels like that because it boosts you?

actually this can be extended for other drugs as well, like, if you're using [some drug] you will probably say "[some drug] is actually not that bad", I mean that

Do you feel like a laggy laptop , hyperactivity , thinking in many thought in the same time, unable to reach goal directed behaviors (motivation)
usually I have a lot of work and stuff to deal with, so I have a lot of thoughts. and yeah I have a big lack of motivation usually. sometimes I get a big motivation and do stuff however it lasts for 2-3 days maybe. on ritalin, I can sit down and do some work without getting interrupted. not sure if I'm just lazy

how much you work hours/day (less then 3 without ability to upper it mean ADHD is there), do you get strong craving to stop work and go to do something more entertaining.
are you scientific (increase ability to be ADHD not ADD) or grammatical (what you love to study, not what you study)
anyway ritalin is euphoric even if you dont have ADHD

I do actual work for like 2 hours a day, but I get tired/bored and rest of my time goes to just browsing internet
I love the stuff I do, but usually I get too tired/lazy doing it.
With 2x ritalin, I've been working for about 5 hours now. Idk if I have it or not, but it definitely improves my work performance

typical symptoms which correspond with ADD/ADHD refer to concentration (e.g. get easily distracted from small events/noise/movements, difficulties to focus and stay on one topic) and a broad range of cognitive functions (e.g. memory, kinetic (unrest), sensory filtering - which is where the same comes from, if the filtering and processing of information is not impaired, one has no 'deficit' in attention and hence no ADD/ADHD). If you feel that aspects of those are the case in your daily life, you can ask for getting tested for ADD/ADHD, that you 'know' the medication would help you is of no importance for the diagnosis and cannot act as 'proof' for i disease (but as a hint).

There are other diseases in which case ritalin etc. have a positive impact for some, e.g. depression or hypothyroidism and most importantly, the medication for ADD/ADHD very often act as nootropic ('cognition enhancer') for individuals without any persistent symptoms/illness. As such they can achieve longer working hours, experience concentration increase, feel more energetic etc. The aspect that you wrote "Like everything in my life gets in order" could point to a 'nonstandard attention' in which case you should inform about it and discuss it with a professional. That you mention socializing can also point to attention problems, but might also stem from anxiety-related issues.

When you have problems motivating this should be clearly distinguished from 'laziness'. I think the negative frame of laziness obfuscates that there are different degrees, and whenever they are negatively influencing the quality of life it should be analyzed what the cause actually is and not ignored. If laziness is not 'chosen' e.g. 'being lazy is more comfortable and one sees no reason to act upon something' but laziness is an 'enemy' so that one feels inable to be 'not lazy' though they know their 'laziness' will cause problems and difficulties for them, this should be discussed with a healthcare professional. An inability to change behavior and resulting suffering should be taken seriously.

Altogether, noone can give you a diagnosis without the proper testing and hence you should focus on your 'sober' difficulties and compare them to a 'default' - which means a state you can feel satisfied with. When you identify aspects of ADD/ADHD impacting your life, go to a doctor and describe these problems and state that you would like to get tested or try out new approaches to identify if there is an underlying cause for the problems in your daily life. That you know the medication helps is not good to mention, as any signs for substance abuse will often disqualify for treatment with ritalin etc. (even if the substance use only happened to compensate the problems which were caused by the disease; which sometimes leaves patients without treatments who'd need it)

It definitely improves my ability to produce. But I can say I only take it for the euphoric effects. Since you're questioning it, you probably know your truth.

I have ADD and would say you have it if two things are present:
1. Medical tests indicate you have it (it’s questionnaire, Google it)
2. You have long- term (10+ years maybe) psychological difficulties in life which are not normal life stuff most other people have.

In fact, stigma of contacting psychiatrist for diagnosis and subscription could be enough of a barrier to stop most drug seeking behavior.

I feel great in terms of the fact my productivity goes through the roof but I hate the fact it has stimulating side effects, I use dexamphetmine btw.

This is the biggest fear. I know that stimulants, given in appropriate dosages, work wonders for those with ADHD, but I have other stuff wrong with me as well, and that autism is a known anxiety risk for these types of drugs...but the same can be said for anti-depressants which can also cause anxiety and aggression if too much or the wrong type is taken.

The issue I have is that I'm trying to taper/detox from benzos and opiates and the unpleasant stimulant/anxiety side effects are basically the same as the very early stages of withdrawal so they make me think that is happening.

All stimulants fuck with my anxiety these days, even a couple of strong cups of coffee on an empty stomach can set me off.

Yep thats me.

It’s a part of how I got SO incredibly addicted to meth for long periods of time; between summer 2017- spring 2018 binge cycle habit - and then the whole of 2020 daily (minus a few short periods) into last month too. Im 16 days clean now.

Amphetamines just work for me in a spectacular way, until Im abusing them. If I’m abusing, then I’m getting the shitty tweaker effects a lot of people get abusing meth. My head gets fucked up then.

Now Im taking Vyvanse 70mg once a day and sticking to it. I used to abuse the vyvanse too. Now Im finding that if I just take it normally, I get the effects I need just fine because my tolerance stays lower. I used to play this game where Id run out of vyvanse and then Id need the meth. So Id get meth and then Id just be smoking and shooting meth for a long period of time becuase Id buy a LOT when Id buy it. Otherwise I’d be buying big bags of meth just because.. nothing to do with any of that.

Im feeling and doing much better now. ADD properly medicated is much better than blowing up with crystal meth pipes and needles today. I also snorted, ate, hotrailed, tried bootybumpjng, whatever. Im a meth head to the max. Or I was. Not today.🙂

The fact that they make you feel good suggests you may not have ADHD. Stimulants make people with ADHD tired (focused, but tired), not energetic. People with ADHD can actually nod off when given too much Ritalin.
Basically, do the pills calm you down or perk you up?

I have never been addicted in binge-type of addictedness (falling into it for days). Maybe I would stop the binge out of anxiety of not doing my various daily responsibilities (in OCD type of calming anxiety), but I am not sure. Maybe I would just lose it. Probably, I would.
