Bluelighter
Male, 23, 180 lbs, previous experience with cannabis and mescaline.
My friend and I finally got around to trying DMT. It was something that both of us were extremely excited about, having read a lot of reports, dosing, etc. We both approached the experience with great respect, in an excited, yet slightly nervous mindset. We smoked out of a “machine” type pipe, but with a small length of curved tubing at the mouthpiece that allowed a more comfortable posture while hitting the pipe. I held the lighter to help my friend vaporize first, and after he was back to baseline he did the same for me. It was hard to see how far the flame was from the copper scrubber, so in the future a longer length of tubing will probably help for vaporizing alone. I slowly inhaled and could see the smoke quickly forming.
Here we go! My heartbeat was pounding strongly through my entire body. The taste was quite unique, and after fully inhaling I sat back on the sofa. Two, maybe three seconds went by before I could tell something was up. And man, it was UP. The coffee table began moving, then the blinds, then the entire room, probably in the span of another second or two. The headspace hit, and everything I was thinking about went to the back of my head as the DMT commanded my attention. My only other experience with psychedelics is with mescaline, and by comparison, this was the complete opposite. Instead of a nice, gentle, 3-4 hour come-up with steadily unfolding visuals that crash over you like comforting waves, this was sober to tripping absolute face in less than 30 seconds.
The carpet was swirling in intricate patterns, and on top of the swirls were more geometric patterns layered upon each other, constantly moving and stretching. The shapes were different on everything, like the ones on the table were different from both my skin as well as the chairs. If there was a dial that controlled the intensity of colors, it was turned all the way up to 11. The richness and depth of the yellow, green, and blue was incredible. The visuals eventually blossomed into three dimensional structures, sliding effortlessly across whatever my body looked like at the moment.
There was so much going on that it was hard to really investigate the headspace. It definitely wasn’t unpleasant or uncomfortable though. Keeping track of time was definitely not happening, but eventually I was able to focus on my body. It felt wet, like it was just dipped in a warm pool. Moving my arms and legs to shift around of the couch felt awesome. Suddenly, there was a drop in visuals. I was coming down, rather quickly, and the only thing I could do was sit there in amazement. WOW. It was hard to believe not only what happened, but how quickly it happened. Before long I was completely back, with lingering color distortions.
Overall, the experience was great. Reading a lot of information before definitely gave me more confidence before stepping up to the pipe, and continually reinforced the fact that this is not a molecule to approach casually. After further reflection on this experience, I look forward to future journeys with this incredibly interesting molecule
