DJT/Kim Meeting

I have to say I do think that being at the point where Kim actually comes to the White House and talks is a step in the right direction in terms of de-escalating. I think it's likely he's playing Trump in some way. However, it kind of seems like Kim is interested in NK becoming part of the larger world, like how China did. Maybe anyway.

I want to believe Trump has good intentions with this meeting and that it will lead to something good for the the North Korean people and the rest of the world but I doubt it. I believe his main intention was being the first and having bragging rights about being the first; not any long term goals. Kim gets to brag to his people that he finally tamed a US president since as far as the NK citizens are concerned the USA is a big bad evil that wants to blow them to dust.
While I believe Kim likes the idea of being a part of the global community that would mean giving up his status as a god which I doubt he'd be willing to do.

oh dear one, I am a trump supporter but I admit have better digital manners then many of my collages do. Just let it bounce of of ya, pretend you're autistic like me and life gets a whole lot easier in so far as social clutter goes. As far as this topic goes, I say well done to Doland and Mr. Kim it's probably going to surprise us in a positive way that we've yet to see. I know I'm optimistic but you know what when we put out positive energy the universe responds in kind. I wish the best for this diplomatic relationship sadly those that are christians like myself are very heavily persecuted and killed or defectors of the government etc. We may yet see a good outcome of this, looks a whole lot different at the DMZ this year 2019 then in 2008 the difference is stark regardless of who was in office.

you might be surprised as many others will at the positive mind blowing things to come :) It'll be a welcome change from the negative. Time will tell.

It all seems very disingenuous to me. They are playing each other as well as us. Each other mostly for notoriety and praise from the mainstream media (even though Trump lies about how he hates them, he actually adores them). They both are getting what they want and the world approves.

It doesn't get any better than this (literally).

And these are our leaders ?.

I want to lean this way, but the thought I keep having is my PTSD flashbacks of Trump to this point in time. I long held out hope that the blithering idiot routine was cover for some smarter moves, but I've mostly given up hope that it is a ruse. So, in my heart, I can go with the premise they are both doing it for the attention it earns them, with or without any real changes made to the status quo. I still struggle, though, with the idea either aren't simply out-bumbling one another.

Within NK, he controls the media and the message, so however well or badly international talks go, he remains a god at home where it matters for him.
