Bupe Difficult to stop?

I am on Butrans patch 10mcg every 3 days worn for 7 days. I am using Butrans for 8 years now and I still experience uncomfortable side effects such as insomnia and anxiety. I am wondering if Butrans patch( low dose bupe) is as difficult to stop as I have read about? The Butrans does help my chronic pain but I am tired of the side effects. After 8 years now I wonder if I should just continue or consider stopping. I do often feel nice but often feel anxious. I am relatively okay on it but should I consider quitting?Help would be appreciated.

I wear the equivalent to a 20 mcg patch per week. I apply a 10 mcg patch twice per week. In answer to your question “yes” I wear 2 patches per week. I find that the patch only lasts 5 days so I break my 20mcg dose to 2 times 10mcgs.

So is it difficult to stop Butrans 20mcgs per week? I put on my fresh patch this morning and I am doing well but yesterday was a crappy day. Still I think I may one day like to give up the Butrans. Any advice would be highly appreciated. I actually do 23 mcgs per week with 10 mcgs every 3 days but I wear the patch for 7 days. I am at this dose for 7 years or so. In theory I could wear 5 mcs and then 10 mcgs and drop 5 mcgs per month. I could do a gradual withdrawal I suppose.

I’m sorry, I don’t have experience with the patch, only with the sublingual kind.
I’m hoping someone with experience will be able to shed some light on your situation.

What is your experience with the sublingual bupe? That would be helpful to know even if I use the patch.

I’m actually just about to step out for about an hour, but I’ll certainly get back to you then!

Thank you. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with bupe in that I mostly feel well and pain free but there are times when I feel almost in withdrawal. I am aware that withdrawal states are a relatively common adverse effect with Bupe and that the amount of withdrawal states are dose dependent. I am actually not too too bad on my relatively low dose being on Butrans 23 mcgs per week.

So, I only know my own experience. For me, suboxone isn’t an easy drug to get off of. I should also let you know that it’s not for pain relief.. it’s from opioid use.

I was on 120mg of methadone for about a year. I went from 120mg to 8mg in less than a year. I actually found that easy. But I know people have wildly different experiences than mine.

I’ve been on suboxone for 6 years total. I’ve been on 24mg for roughly 1.5-2 years. Too high. Wayyyy too high. Though.. at the time, necessary. I’ve tried 2mg drops and each time I almost go insane with anxiety and suicidal ideation. I have a child to take care of .. so I always end up going back up. It’s just too much for me to drop and parent at the same time. It’s not fair to my child.
I’m sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place with this.

Thankfully, my situation doesn’t seem to be the “norm”.

Id highly recommend using the search bar at the top right on your screen. There are soooo many people who have succeeded.

So there’s hope ❤️ I hope I was able to answer part of your question ?
