Benzos Diclazepam withdrawal from short term usage??

Last month I managed to get my hands on some diclazepam. I don't have much history of benzo use....I've used Valium about 4 times prior to taking diclazepam.

For about three weeks now, I've been taking 0.5mg every other day, just to take the edge off (I suffer from occasional social anxiety) but I'm thinking I don't want to start a benzo addiction, so I'm going to stop taking them.

I understand it's a low dose, over a short period of time and with use every other day.... so my question is, is it safe for me to just come straight off them or would it be worth tapering off them to avoid any possible withdrawals? I'm guessing I'm not going to be having any seizures or anything too drastic from such short term usage? :?

cheers

With that dose and short term use you should be ok with just jumping off. I got it right that you did not take the Diclazepam every day over those 3 weeks?
Then you probably wont feel anything regarding physical WD-symptoms. Maybe a little psychological distress and not that good sleep for a few days but nothing serious.
Keep yourself occupied and don't psyche yourself out over it :)

You should be fine with that dose. Worse comes to worse you'll feel a little rebound anxiety on the days you used to use but that will subside quickly. In my experience benzo tolerance takes a little while to get to full blown addiction levels.

Shit, I have some Diclazepam that I was saving for acid comedowns, but it seems like it may last too long for just coming down off L. What do you guys think? I have zero benzo tolerance and just want something to smoothen the landing from my long flight, but I don't want to be feeling a nasty pill hangover for three days either. I guess I should've researched more, but a lot of the reports that I initially read described it as really mild, almost disappointing. But now I'm seeing reports that make it sound like a three day zombie drug I dunno... thanks

Off topic, but you get hangovers from benzos?

People here don't seem to distinguish between 'rebound anxiety' and 'withdrawal'. You will experience rebound anxiety, not that severely, but some for a fe days, maybe a week. Three weeks does not an addiction to benzos make- especially at such a low dose.

Benzo addiction does exist and is nasty, but you have to take benzos for a long time. I took etizolam for about a year and a half at fairly high doses before I had any withdrawal- an even then I could skip days.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I assumed that I would be fine to just come straight off them after such a short period, just needed some reassurance after reading some nasty stories about benzo addiction and withdrawal.

diclazepam has a halflife of 42 hours roughly,
so even if you take it every two days; you're practically under the influence every day;
cuz it hasnt had the time to leave your body.

many people will say its not enough to feel addicted yet,
but if your sensitive like me, then i'd say its enough to start feeling withdrawal symptoms.

rebound anxiety is a withdrawal symptom.
i'd stay away from benzos for quite a while, maybe 3 weeks at least; 6 would be better; 9 would be safe.
and dont drink much alcohol cause that works on the same receptors as benzos.

withdrawal wont be too bad,
but i think u could make it lighter by taking 0,25 mg and two days later 0,12mg...
use 3x 20mg of codeïne per day to help with increased anxiety (for up to 3 days, after that maybe u could start getting anxiety from not taking that anymore, though i dont know. codeïne is mild. :)

I rarely use alcohol. Not really a fan! As for codeine, I understand the logic but A) Im choosing not to take benzos anymore as I don't want to start an addiction, so I don't want to replace it with something addictive and B) I had a problem with dihydrocodeine in the past (luckily it only lasted around 4 months) so I try to avoid using any opiates.

Think im just going to man through it and maybe taper off ever so slightly (if needed), just to avoid any anxiety issues!
