I stopped taking diazepam two weeks ago, I was taking 200mg per night. I wanted to quit but I had to as my source ran dry. Well I had a weeks worth of Xanax so took 6mg p/night until last Saturday.

Well for three days now I've been going through hell.

It wasn't too bad at the start of the week, it just felt like depression.

Well on Friday the anxiety started. I can't do anything.

I have some 30mg codeine in the cupboard. Would taking that help?

Or would you recommend something else? I'm going through hell and cannot function. How long will this last?

Help!

The codeine will help but it won't help too much. 200mg per night is a lot, I seriously recommend seeing a doctor and starting a taper down, that's a lot to stop basically cold turkey.

codeine might maybe take the edge off

you need to get some benzos and taper

i cold turkeyed off ~6mg klonopin 9 months ago and I'm still not right

diazepam withdrawal doesn't even start to peak off until 10-14 days out

this will not end anytime soon find some benzos. even if you reinstate at a much smaller dose like 40mg a day you will be a million times better off

Yeah man you are in for a world of fucking hurt jumping off like that. I would HIGHLY recommend going to the doctor, and having them do a supervised taper for you. This will make it much more manageable. The biggest risk of benzo withdrawal is having a seizure, and believe me it is possible. My friend and I both had to quit taking xanax cold turkey (long story) and we were both taking high doses daily for a long long time. This was 24 months ago, and it honestly took over a year for the anxiety and whatnot to subside.

Please go to the doctor, they won't bite. Good luck.

I'm thinking the same thing, that the OP should visit a doctor. I quit taking Xanax cold turkey as well. Three days later? Grand mal seizure...

Yeah man, I got interrupted mid post before and forgot to say that my friend had a grand mal seizure when we quit, and I was getting brain zaps so bad that I was sure I was gonna fucking have one as well, but somehow managed to dodge that bullet. I regret not going to the doctor and doing a taper, but it was a complicated situation to say the least, especially not having health insurance or a job at that point in my life.

So this will get worse before it gets better? Oh my god. I stopped the diazepam massive 200mg doses 14 days ago now. 6mg Xanax for a week, now nothing for a week.

I have two small children here and I'm going hot/cold shaking, my ears keep popping and I'm frightened. I need to know what I can do now. I've got codeine, pain killers but no benzos. Oh I had 2mg Xanax last night too that I hunted out. I was saving that for a tooth extraction.

Help me please. I'm actually worried I might die.

You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. The risk of seizure is very real. If you feel your life is in danger, seek emergency medical attention now, please.

Yeah man, there is no magical cure you can just pull out of the air. Opiates aren't going to help you. You NEED to go to the doctor, or ER. They aren't going to keep you there or anything, what are you waiting for? You don't need to be scared. They WILL help you.

Unless you can source a bunch of benzos off the street (not recommended) GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW !

listen to the post above an the rest you need a doctor big time ! and with 2 kids about even more so, the hell will just keep on going, benzos are the longest of all. good luck.

you need to go to the doctor man.. i've had a few seizures kicking over the years and I'd say if you were going to have a seizure you would have already. despite that you need medical attention because cold turkeying those doses has the potential to fuck you up for years to come.

this isn't some fearmongering shit this is real talk..

I don't know if this is good advice, but being from Cali, would ganja help with benzos withdrawls, I know helps with other withdrawls. Here in the Golden State, its very easy to get a prescription. A little too easy. But I donmt know too much about benzos, only that when a few friends mixed it with hard opiates they never woke up. So I think a clinic is the best way. Maybe some pot to take the edge off too. I know I might get shit for the pot thing, but I really do have a hard time classifying as a schedule 4 or something. Sorry I from the Colonies.

I can't get to a&e tonight as I'm home alone with two children.

Do you think sleeping tablets would work and then I can go to my own GP first thing...?

Or do I get my parents involved to look after the children and risk the 11 mile drive to a&e?

I'm sorry I'm really frightened now. I've managed to sleep the last two nights on nytol...

Relax! You are going to be OK. But you do need to see a doctor, and not tomorrow, now. So do whatever you have to do, and no, I would not recommend that you drive yourself. You've been two weeks without, and your anxiety is acting up, so this is not a good time for you to be driving.

^^Agreed, get somebody to give you a ride to A&E (I'm assuming you're in the UK since you didn't call it an ER). Now. Verso is right, tell your parents if you need to, and it sounds like you need to. Best of luck and let us know what happens.

UK doctors generally know much more about benzo withdrawal then US doctors so getting a taper set up shouldn't be a problem at all

I've been triaged and the wait is 3.5hrs to see a dr so in my opinion they don't think I'm going to die tonight or soon so I'm going to have to go home to my boys. I've told my partner the truth so now he knows that i have to be watched tonight. I'm going to my dr as a priority first thing. All my observations are fine like my bp and heart rate so time to go home. Ironically I'm having an ease in symptoms from when I spoke to you earlier. I feel OK now so fingers crossed it lasts. Thanks guys.

I never thought that you would die, but your risk for seizure could be high, and neither your blood pressure nor heart rate will measure the likelihood of an oncoming seizure. It sounds to me like you're going to be OK and could possibly avoid having a seizure, but you still need to be given a prescription of some kind to be safe. Lorazepam or something...
