Diazepam Sublingually - Why it feels so much more effective?

When I take 5mg under the tongue (chew it up with front teeth a bit them place it under) the effects are experienced much quicker which is fairly expected, but it also seems to have a much more powerful effect.. And this puzzles me a bit.

The BA of Diazepam is already at .. **checks** 93% leaving only a possible 7% increase, which I imagine sublingual may not achieve and only IV would using IV made formulations.

Does anyone else get a markedly powerful effect when using Diazepam, or any Benzo, sublingually? Tis a puzzling wee land-lubber... Yarrr! ;)

sublingual is the way with benzos. ive noticed the same thing. that shit just seems to get lost in your stomach. but what i think it mostly is is that benzos are such a subtle drug and one of the effects of the high (or whatever you call what benzos do) is that you are less able to notice you are under the influence of benzos, so when you take it sublingually it kicks in fast and you notice the change. when you swallow, it happens too slowly and is less noticeable.

I just get faster effects from sublingual benzos. They don't really seem stronger, but that initial setting in feels pretty damn pleasant when it's so sudden like that. Alprazolam especially seems to set in ridiculously fast sublingually.

I am inclined to agree with this.

Yea it must be the quick onset, yer right ;)
It doesn't last too long, the initial feeling I mentioned, but it's oooohhhh soooooo good whilst it does.
Sublingual is definitely the way to go.
Thanks guys :)

I too feel diazepam is always worth holding under the tongue. I only took 8 mg sublingually today & it felt more noticeable than i expected.

im feeling what your sayinghydroazuanacaine so its part pychsymatitic slightly lesser part physical sort of we become accustomed two how long roughly it will take two kick in via the stomach but sublingual sort of throws our pattern if you like:)

Agreed, particularly about the "lost in the stomach" part. I'd swear I get more effect from 5mg under the tongue than 15mg down the hatch. I know that's not possible from a physiological standpoint, but I find a whole lot of a drugs impact (for me at least) is psychological. It's almost a reverse placebo effect. If I can't overwhelmingly feel a drug kicking in, it seems it has almost no effect on me at all. With sublingual administration, I get that initial "kick" that forces my brain to admit the drug is working, and allows me to lay back, relax and enjoy the more subtle feelings I'd miss otherwise.

^^

I agree with you 100% about your brain allowing you to get high. I have noticed through the years if I go into a shot thinking that it's not enough to get the buzz on then I don't get as high as I wanted even if I have 160mg of roxxi under my plunger but if I load it up and think "Yeah it's on now" I get the warm feeling and the "speedy" effects along with the nods. IMO most highs are mental as well as physical, you just got to convince your self that its gonna be there. I also agree that sub lingual is the way to go with benzos or anything else that you are wanting to swallow. When I started the suboxone program they told me it was because of the vein under your tongue but I am not sure if that is why or not.
