Diazepam removal?

So I'm on Diazepam and have read online (and in the leaflet that came in the box) that Omeprazole slows down the removal of Diazepam from the body.

If this is true, I was wondering if Lansoprazole (another proton pump inhibitor) would have the same effect?

If if slows down the removal of Diazepam - does that mean it would work for longer? (I already know diazepam is quite a long-acting benzodiazepine).

I don't think it means it would work for longer, rather that it's slowing down the metabolization and excretion so it's staying in your system longer but not necessarily binding to your receptors longer. Something perhaps worth looking into, though. Omeprazole can have adverse effects with a lot of drugs, but I'm not sure about this. For instance, with loperimide, omeprazole allows it to stay past the blood brain barrier long enough to bind to the opiate receptors there, but that's not necessarily a good thing. Hope you find some answers as it's a good question.
