hi!! i had posted asking if any one else cant sleep thats on suboxone. i need some ideas for sleep meds to run by my doc. he wont give me benzos so thats out of the question. i have already tried tried tresedone, lunesta, remeron, and everything under the sun over the counter. i would like to try seroquel but he wont give me that either. he is a great doctor (psychiatrist) who specialises in addiction so he is pretty funny about giving me anything. any ideas would be fantastic i just want to get some sleep and CANT!! on my next appointment it would be great to maybe present him with some different ideas with something that would actually work!! thanx!!!

Try gabapenton ort better yet pregablin (Lyrica). It is very relaxing and many doctors just don't have experience with off label use but it is great for anxiety and an overall sense of well being. It is also not associated with addiction or abuse so you can easily get a script. Check out the mega threa, I just took 900mg and it is starting to kick in :)

Try some promethazine (phenergan) 50 mg of that shit makes it hard to do anything except collapse.

Then there's melatonin, pretty sure a doc can prescribe it too, if not its available online. Zopiclone is good medicine, it's sort of benzo like but i think lunesta is similar so...

zyprexa, atarax, vistaril, flexeril, clonidine, zanaflex..

ask your dr bout those.
they're non abusable on their own and will help you sleep if taken at bedtime.

I just wanted to say how surprised I am to find someone who is having trouble sleeping from suboxone. If I take it on a regular basis I'll sleep for 15 hours a day, it's pretty awful.

low dose, like 25-50mgs, amitriptyline can help you get restorative sleep. do you have trouble going to sleep or staying asleep?

You can try Mirtizapine (remeron) its a anti-depressant. Usually 15mgs knocks you out. Its used to treat depression and makes you eat alot which is a side effect.

Or trazadone another anti-depressant, it also knocks you out, but side effect are worse.

for me hydroxine works very well- an antihistamine an addiction specializing Doc will find acceptable. Rozerem (ramelteon) is also liked by docs who treat addiction. One could do melatonin though on their own and I don't think it will be much different than rozerem.

Melotonin is over the counter--take 3mgs and see if it works. It works well for me.

Amatriptaline which is a TCA is used to help with sleep. It's really cheap, and I bet you could get a script for that.

most effective sleep aids that i have used:

seconal
nembutal
GHB
temazepam
GHB
midazolam
GHB
valium
GHB
nitrazepam
GHB

get the picture? :)

Try taking higher doses of lunesta (zopicione )-- 22.5mg-- and read a good book whilst you wait for effects to come on. Works EVERY time for me, especially with 1 bottle of beer. ONE! Or horlicks. Seriously if zpolclone isnt working then you have a sleeping disorder alright!!! :)

BEWARE though you might feel a bit groggy the next day so allocate al least 8-9 hours sleep.

Rozerem (Ramelteon) Its not the greatest but is also non-addicting. This what my shrink prescribed me.

imipramine - look it up - and trazadone - maybe - imipramine is good for people to take long term and it helps baance all brain chems plus it has mild affinity for opiate receptiors lessening craving a little.

She allready stated in her original post that she has ALLREADY tried Mirtazepine and it didn't work.

thanx soooo so much everybody for all the ideas i am litterally getting out a apen and paper and am writing them all down then going down the list my next doctors visit!!! i love love love this site it is fantastic!!! thanx, miranda

Try Alimenazine... enough of those will knock you out, but leave you feeling a bit shitty the next day... worth a r though...

ovrt here the liquid form is otc and the pill form Rx...

its a sedating anti-histamine with NO abuse potential

Lyrica (Pregabalin) works great. It can be quite sedating for some, especially when first starting it. It is used off-label for insomnia and anxiety, along with a variety of other things. It mimics the GABA-A receptor, which is responsible for the effects of benzodiazepines (along with many other sedating drugs/alcohol).
