Getting your plant(s) through to harvest is always a good thing, but every so often you have a win that brings a smile to your face.
I pulled off one memorable grow-op on a raft anchored in a dam on a remote farming property. I cut the top out of 6x 10 gallon stainless steel-beer kegs (no easy task) and rigged them together in a frame. I fixed a hessian cradle in each one to hold a soiless growing medium (vermiculite/perlite/vol rock) and put 2 seedlings in per keg. Once I'd overcome buoyancy and camouflage issues out she went in late spring.
There was sufficient rain early on for the seedlings and as summer rolled on I had no watering hassles once the roots got through the hessian. My only issues were nutrient management (drip feeder kept clogging up) and not being able to cut back the water availability pre-harvest as I usually do. Oh, and cormorant and wild duck shit everywhere 8).
Overall, I was happy with the yield and the quality was pretty good if a little 'green' tasting. Only wish I'd taken photos.
Anyone else pulled off a grow-op to remember?
