Depression 2.5 months after MDMA

Well basically the thing to know even without tests is that if you do things to restore your hormones you will recover.

Technically, antidepressants (as well as therapy) also have effects on hormone levels. So you could look into that stuff if you dont want to go the direct route.

The problem is SSRIs will lower your libido further and may give you numbing. But you could look into other non ssri stuff with your dr?

I was in the exact same place as you were last year and now im a lot better once I got onto the right track. Theres lots of tracks to follow. 1) the hormone route 2) CBT (acceptance) 3)psych meds 4) Supplements--have you tried out magnesium or zinc?

So to recover you can go through any of those routes or combos.

Really suggest seeing a therapist+ KNOWLEDGABLE psychiatrist to get this stuff checked out. Most drs dont know about the effects of mdma but some psychiatrists out there would.
I don't think adrenal fatigue is the problem. It seems you get symptoms that mach that from stressors in your life, (and I have basically none) At the same time I dont thin this co be a serotonergic problem, because I remember I was feeling pretty good a coupleof weeks after my last roll

See thats why the AF (HPA dysfunction) theory is supported more.

The stressors dont have to be psychological. MDMA itself was a huge stressor (to YOUR body) and then even though you recovered initially something else in your body caused stress and then you become dysregulated and thrown into an LTC again.

It has nothing to do with psychological stress (though that can add into it and is now)--it could be other yet unknown PHYSICAL stressors.

The fact that its not directly after your roll supports the "adrenal" fatigue stuff (though your adrenals are ok nothing physically wrong--its just not getting told to do the right stuff due to problems upstream).

These physical stressors include stuff like not eating enough, eating too much, vitamin D deficiency, Zinc deficiency, magnesium deficiency (all 3 are pretty common), etc

You are basically out of gas cause you placed way more demand on your body than your body could handle. So now you just gotta find whats missing and then you will recover. Its only been 2.5 months so its early on and if you follow the right stuff you can recover quick

I had the same situation last year and when I got everything properly diagnosed and figured out I got better. Unfortunately, my GP didnt know anything at all though but once you find the right dr you should recover.

One easy question to answer right off the bat is how much are you eating per day on average? Men need 2500-3000 calories daily, more with exercise.

Did you have the same symptoms as me?

Yes I remember having the horrid emotional numbing, total loss of motivation, feeling completely empty stuff and so much so that I couldnt hold a conversation with people. I was totally blank emotionally. Did not wake up with morning wood and no libido. Last year. GP gave SSRIs which made me worse. I only got better when I started targeting the stuff that was messed up.

Get your testosterone, LH/FSH, ACTH, pregnenolone, cortisol tested and then treated properly.

Pregnenolone is a neurosteroid which regulates GABA and is involved in mood. Thankfully, you can easily supplement it and get better if it is low. The supplements for pregnenolone are OTC. Unfortunately, most of the supps suck unless they are creams or MLM form.

And if you have Testosterone problems then thats also fixable with proper meds.

It does not make any sense to have depression randomly unless your system got messed up.

The neurosteroids themselves control receptors like SERT.

I'm hijacking this thread :) I strongly believe that hormones play a HUGE PART of the feelings we are having.

I've had a LCT from Sep to around June. And every time I got close to my period date, things got terribly wrong. Temblors, insomnia, twitches, brain zaps. After my period is over, I felt fine again. I've had this for the last 3 months. I only get the symptoms those 5 days, I'm fine the rest of the month. I even consumed MDMA again in 2 occasions, without issues or problems. It used to be like these the entire month at the beginning of the LCT, but my point is: when my body is filled with hormones from my period, I'm a mess. I'm at my worst. If this works like this on a woman, perhaps the same happens on men, but since mens don't get hormones fluctuations monthly, maybe the symptoms stay all the time

And all these symptoms subsided when it was all said and done?

Yes--although I am not completely recovered yet im around 70%. The severe stuff is long gone--went away in a couple weeks after I found out the problem. I havent restored my hormones completely to my optimal status yet and so I am not completely recovered

It can take a while to balance hormones but the beginning is the fastest once you find whats wrong. It can get complex though.

There are also natural ways to restore your hormonal status to your genetically determined state prior to all of this. This route avoids some of the complexity. It involves stuff like pregnenolone, vit D, magnesium, zinc, L-tyrosine, exercise, CBT etc. You are basically giving your body the tools to recover.

OK. Thanks for your help :) How long have you been going through this and what does LCT stand for

So you are fully recovered?
