Ok. I detoxed off of Benzos and after detox suffered major depersonalization. Never happened before benzos and sometimes I get episodes of depersonalization here and there, seems to increase with stress. My question is, when one experiences this feeling of depersonalization I feel that I am connected to the people I am around. Is this just a side effect or does the detox effect cause one to believe they may be temporarily psychic or some shit. It's weird. I don't even know what to say about this it is so strange to me. I hope I'm not psychic and it is just a temporary WRONG interpretation of the depersonalization process. IMO the ego is a good thing and one needs it to be protected. Does anyone else feel they know others "moods" better while having depersonalization effects from weed, benzos detox or other drugs? Very curious.

I have been dealing with depersonalization/derealization for years now, for me it started after smoking some potent weed one night. I find that the more I focus on the aspects of the disorder, the more I notice it and want it to go away. It has decreased my mental cognition significantly and also just dulled me out. While I do not feel "psychic", I can relate to what you mean. For me I would almost describe it as constantly being in a higher state of consciousness. I feel like I am able to break down and analyze everything, but I realize all I am doing is over analyzing everything, almost like being perma-stoned.

I only really experience depersonalization and derealization during psychedelic experiences, and these effects can be medicinal in a sort of way.

Quitting certain drugs, namely heroin, benzos, meth, etc. will definitely increase DP/DR.

My advice to you: use meditation, music, and focusing on tactile sensations to help re-center your locus of control, and sense of self. :)
