~~~Definition of Ayahuasca~~~
Rue does not make hoasca.
Simply because it does not have the same effect. OK? Why on earth call it ayahuasca? I'm not that picky, i make my AYAHUASCA with pure DMT and caapi. Because im fairly sure it does the same thing as the leaves. But rue is not the same thing as caapi, there's no snakes in it. :D It has a totally different chemical makeup, missing THH and god knows what. The vine is really special.
You can call that dusty desert crap arabahuasca instead, if you want to have something sounding like ayahuasca.
No one cares....
I mean you could call it "a brew consisting of plants with similar alkaloid contents that work together to have pretty much the same effects as ayahuasca"
of you could just call it ayahuasca....
i get the whole rue vs cappi....
It must have the cappi to be typical ayahuasca, the DMT source is whatever....
I really don't care where its from, someones backyard or the amazon river, genetically its the same thing, and assuming its grown correctly the alkaloid contents should be fine and dandy....
As long as you use Caapi, Psychotria and Diplopterys it's the same, yes, of course, it doesn't matter where it's grown as long as it's the correct plant.
but im saying i really care what the DMT comes from.
Fundamentally the Caapi is what makes ayahuasca, well ayahuasca.....
psychotria vs mimosa -- either source seems fine, very similiar alkaloid contents.
Rue vs Caapi -- Your working with 2 different MAOIs, similar effects, different alkaloids.
Diplopterys cabrerana is optional, your not really adding much to active alkaloids. The 5-MeO-DMT might add some character, but the other stuff in it is going to be trace amounts and do very little.
I have a jar of "ayahuasca" which was brought to me last year from Brazil..
Is this likely to contain the DMT and the MAOI containing elements. My friend from Brazil picked it up in a local shop, he has no infoormation on its contents or its use...he has only taken ayahuasca in a group seting.
I would assume it contains everything necessary for an oral ayahuasca experience, but I have been told it's unlikely to contain the MAOI element...
However, reading this thread makes me believe it probably contains bboth necessary elements.
You've had Aya' sitting around for a year?
Throw that away and brew some new stuff.
The brew shouldn't be kept more than a week... 3 days really.
nono, it's a powdered brown matter in a jar, printed label with the name of the apothecary, and the single printed word, Ayahuasca.
I'd like to know if it's likely to contain the MAOI containing element , or not.
I have no idea.
I've never heard of anything like that.
My bet is that it's powdered B. caapi.
if y'all really think that the biochemical makeup of syrian rue and mimosa is the same as caapi, psychotria and diplopterys then you are fools
each plant has it's own unique profile of compounds, not just DMT!
that is what makes the difference
i believe the fact that syrian rue lacks THH has already been discussed
it's fun to watch you idiots who don't know what the hell your talking about
frenchie
I really dont understand why it is you are here at bluelight. Thread after thread you spew nothing but rude, offensive and condecending remarks to fellow BLers. I rarely ever see any positive contribution from you and if it were up to me you would be an ex-bluelighter. I know you're having fun playing ethnobotanist and all, but ease up. This is not the place to initiate conflict. Maybe you should check out the lounge :\
a zebra might not be a horse, but DMT is DMT is DMT.
True. if your using pure DMT.... but if you using the plants... well they contain lots of trace compounds besides just the main actives.
Caapi is better than Syrian Rue due to the THH content (and other trace compounds).
Diplopterys and Psychotria are better than Mimosa due to their trace compounds and lack of tannins and what not.
The plants that go into the brew really do make a huge difference.
