Quick rundown because as you can imagine I am wrecked. I have been lightly using opiates on and off for years, hydrocodone etc. In the past 3 months I discovered IV and found a powdered Fentanyl source. 28yo 140lb

I quickly started IV fentanyl daily and I imagine did it at least for a month or two non stop. 10-30mg a day I would dissolve in water and space into small IV or IM shots. I would in the evenings nodd for a few hours but most of the day did little enough to maintain productivity. It was certainly activating all o my receptors to their full ability. No doubt.

I developed the motivation and the support structure to quit and went cold turkey last Monday 9/16/13. I am past all of the GI, digestion, and most of the major dangerous phase of WD. I feel I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

HEREs the thing though: I got a few hours of sleep the first night while still under the influence. I am now on full day 8 cold turkey and still NO SLEEP. I did some some searches on here and found a few others saying they were on day 10,11, or 14 with no sleep. I just need to hear from yall how long do you think I have and how long did you go and when will I regain motivation?

I will not go back to opiates, this is no option. I just need to come up with a timeline for when I should have sleep so I can repair my business? I have my brother and family taking care of it now. Will it start coming in short spans or will I suddenly get 16hrs?

Oh yea... I was also smoking pot constantly, I tried to quit it as well but after 3 days of no sleep I smoked thinking it would help, it was like an acid trip it was so intense, no sleep. The next day I smoked a few small times throughout the day, same thing last 3 days. I now feel like I am actually getting baked each time but then I get VERY tired. Still no sleep though. Should I say F the weed to or should I adapt to that and quit later (no problem).

Hi johnhopkins welcome to Bluelight

I did not experience insomnia of any kind but reading through some of the posts before not particularly just from Fentanyl, it does get better. With regards to the timeline, everyone's bodies reacts differently so I won't be able to tell you when your sleep pattern will get better.

On the other hand, have you spoken to a medical professional regarding this? If not, would you be willing to seek help to see if there will be some medication you can take to get your sleep much better? Some of the other bluelighters may be able to share their experiences on this matter.

Mom is a nurse, been checking bloodpressure hydration etc. Im healthy other than no sleep in 8-9 days. I really would like to hear comments with regard to others insomnia because of massive opiate WD. I experienced sleep deprivation when quitting opiates previously, but this was only hydrocodone and that was just 2-3 nights of no sleep. I know some benzos would help but I want my old life back ASAP. I guess I just said it myself. I am going to do it even if it takes 15 days of no sleep.

Thanks Maya!!!

I didn't sleep for any recognizable time for two weeks and then I was able to slowly start getting two or three hours a night.. eventually around month five I was able to get more than four hours. But i also detoxed of benzos at the same time as opiates. Just keep at it.

Hey! Great! I was hoping to hear someone with similar experience. I would guess the benzos are a major contributor in your situation as well though. They can effect sleep even more so. I had access so alprozolam but I want to go without because I want my life back ASAP.
THANKS!!!!!!!

Take some melatonin, it's a supplement you can get at any supplement store, and it's not addictive. 5 to 10mgs. Anyways, good job, it will eventually pay off.

Valerian, kava kava, chamomile. Those things might not work, but they are slightly relaxing and help your mind calm down a little. I also noticed that the first time I fell asleep right after valerian root tea, it started becoming more consistent probably because of the placebo effect.
