Darkside Input Needed -Drug Addiction

I'm doing a research paper on drug addiction, I need to focus on three points on how America needs to work on the current drug epidemic.

The two points I've already came up with are :through education and law reforms.....I need to think of one more point to focus on as a way to improve the way America can work on our current drug epidemic.



I may end up focusing primarily on pharmaceuticals since that seems to be a big thing this decade but I'm not certain yet...any suggestions would be great.

I know the darksiders should have some good idea on the subject matter.
 
Better medicine in America. So many doctors are uneducated and ignornant, or do not care about their patients. Also, many studies can be misleading, being so many of them. The distortion that Big Pharma causes on medicine and how it is practiced is also a very good focus point (advertising, sales reps etc.) But, yes, in short, faulty medicine leading to faulty care and rehabilitation of addicts, and improper treatment of addiction.
 
A point I could write reams on: the hypocrisy inherent in our system that creates drug addiction and physical dependence wantonly (opiates, benzos, ADD stimulants, SSRIs), not to mention pushing alcohol at every turn, and then punishing those who self-medicate or turn to illegal drugs which are sometimes less addictive or damaging than alcohol. We have a culture that is in total denial. We spend billions to arrest and imprison people for illegal drug use and then we passively accept that the giant pharmaceuticals are creating a culture where everything is a disorder and every disorder has a "medication", even when those medications lead to addiction.
