Ive had more then a few days like that where some methadone could have come in handy. Theres always a day when everything goes fucking wrong even if your a pain patient getting your stuff on script. One of the reasons national holidays piss me off now they sometimes catch me on the day when im supposed to be getting a refill on my script but i can't because the pharmacies are all closed or my doc is out.

There may be a few deaths from this program but alot less people will die on the program then they will getting smack thats of unknown quality. I mean how many people die every year because they get real high quality stuff they arent used to getting and overshoot their tolerance or they get fentanyl sold as smack.

It's too bad that if anyone dies on the program people will say it's not working and the government is giving addicts loads of drugs to kill themselves. This type of thinking completely disregards common sense but then when has common sense ever been common when it comes to the drug war. All the same europe is less uptight about this stuff and the anti-drug propaganda doesn't seem to be as loud there as here in north america.
 
Crazy that this is coming from a country that banned red bull.

Although, Denmark is for the most pretty relaxed when it comes to drug use.
 
I'm sure somone posted this already but here it goes. They are prescribing heroin with methadone so when they run out of there heroin they can use the methadone. WHO IS GOING TO TAKE HEROIN AS PRESCRIBED? Exactly therefore there most likely going to run out and need methadone to get them by until they get there heroin again.
 
they key to all this lies in the "war" on drugs that no one ever plans on winning. Too much money to be made. But occasionally it's gotta look like 'our' side is trying to win, so they go spend obscene amounts of money, which really goes back into their own pockets, on schemes with little or no merit. $76 per person per day for something which grows like a weed and has almost no processing costs. but maybe its all that simple... even if the scheme doesn't work, heroin costs less that methadone.

If the prescription for heroin was enough to keep me high to the point where i felt good but not real fucked up i would take it as prescribed. You don't need to be nodding out all the goddamn time because you really can't do anything else then and it's hard to pass as sober when you are that fucked up on opiates.

Save the hours long nods for the weekend =D .

Not really. A more accurate quote would be "Makes sense coming from a country that has such a comprehensive free at the point of consumption healthcare system". This move by the Danish government isn't pro-drugs so has nothing to do with Red Bull (which has drug like effects hence the ban), it's a pro-sensible healthcare and pro-reducing crime move.
 
Here in the UK they've been doing trials in certain cities, the closest to me being Darlington. The trails haven't finished yet, though I remember reading a few months ago in some newspaper that the scheme was going to go national.

What the scheme was they got really bad addicts (Injectors only, at the moment) who didn't respond to methadone that well and had tried and failed rehab 3 or 4 times.

They had to go to a special shooting gallery where they'd get pharm' diamorphine (Heroin) twice a day, once in the morning, once in the evening and also take home methadone.

In the early 90's they did this kinda thing in the UK where they gave addicts pharm' dia' (This was with smokers, injectors and people who snorted their H) the trials worked very well but the shitty Conservative saw that giving addicts H legally as a bad political move and stopped the whole thing.
Luckily though those who had been on the trials went to court and won and got their pharm' diamorphine scripts back. Sadly no more addicts get but on it, only people who need it for palliative care.

I'm just always nodding %) I was one of the kids on here talking about how I could just do opiates for fun. But then I had a few accidents that made me have pain. That made me fucked. =D

have to shoot in front of nurse,never hometake,only methadonejuice(1%).but
they can come up to 5 times a day,whenever they feel they need a shot.the
large rest,often more in need,gets left out to die or bow to the real tough
methadoneprogramrules(even no spliff!!).and getting into these programs is
nearly impossible,at least in southern germany.hitler is alive and well here!we

Screw the US and my Methadone Maintenance. I'm moving to Europe!

I don't see why this program has taken so long to get started. Oh well I just hope it goes in the right direction and not scrapped down the road for one reason or another.
 
The programme will see 70 million Danish kroner (9.4 million euros, 14 million dollars) spent on treating about 500 of the worst affected and most marginalised addicts in the country in 2008 and 2009.

I am assuming the cost is so high because it is a trial programme, yes? If this were to be proven effective and used more widespread it would be more cost effective than this right?
