Cut crime by giving addicts hard drugs on prescription - police chief

Seems like it's a catch 22 to me? It would be great for the government to legalize drugs and sell them on the free market at a fixed price. But then again I hate the governmernt getting in my personal life so much. I hate that they are so worried about oxycodone abuse that they have scared many doctors into not prescribing them for pain. Even though I bet that most top officials have access to any painkillers or any kind of other drug they wish.. Stop the DEA from interfering!!!!

Legal drugs sold to anyone of age without restrictions the same as alcohol and tobacco are sold would get the government out of people's personal lives.
Reasonable taxes could be mandated to pay for treatment centers for those that get in too deep and want help, you could also go to your physician for assistance in tapering or substitution therapy without worry about being labeled a drug seeker and never having your pain adequately treated again.

I just don't know how anyone could not see boon to society this plan would be, it would remove the underworld and let police focus on real criminals instead of people who live alternate lifestyles.

I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe that alcoholics provide most of the alcohol industry's profit.

I worked at a liquor store in downtown Boston for 2 years and they did not stay afloat by the irregular 1-3x a week customers pickin' up whatever fits their fancy that day. There were the sp'angers who would come in 4x a day to pick up their pint of floor cleaner, young guys getting their daily 6 or 12 packs and middle-age women getting their 2 bottles of chard and cigarettes. Those are the people who brought in at least 75% of the profit to that place.

Anyone who has had pharmacutical heroin AND street 'brown' will most likely say that they prefer brown. The pure stuff is strong, but brown has somewhat different effects (most likely due to the other stuff in there).

I've had pure heroin hcl and east coast #4 and maybe it's just me but I'll always choose the pharm-grade stuff. The rush and euphoria are just so much cleaner... then again the tan powder I get is pretty clean so I've never experienced the heavy feeling tar and euro stuff apparently give. Still though, I cannot see choosing anything over the pure stuff, unless its just about the nostalgia/ritual of the spoon, lighter, cig filter etc.
