ealier this year i ened up in hospital on pain meds and treatment (for my Crohn's disease) after a few days of partying on md and other substances.

a couple months ago i tried md again and again i wasn't too well afterwards.

my state of health since then was shaky.. which i believe was due to a combination of factors.. (eg, md, moving house, poor diet, and just the nature of the disease etc)..

I'm currently doing better due to treatment I'm on.. (which involves drinking nothing but protein drinks for a month... so far, im day 9 without any solids and day 4 on just the formulated drinks).

I have a gig on next week and have been considering doing some MD..

I'm assuming the reasons that md effected me so much in the past was in part because of the serotonin receptors in the gut.. so what I'm wondering is, if i railed some MD would this have less of an effect on the gut? or could i still be effected

alternatively, would acid effect the system in a similar way ?

most likely i won't do anything... because i'm not willing to risk all the effort i've put in so far to feel better.. but still curious.

any experience/knowledge appreciated

thanks!

Railing it could still affect your guts, maybe it will have a slightly lower impact, but it's not a way to completely avoid serotonin drug gut problems. Most drugs are going to affect your guts in one way or another, acid, MDMA & other psychedelics can produce temporary nausea & gut problems in healthy people. You'll have less problems at lower doses & not partying for several consecutive days.

If you're in the middle of a flareup and can only absorb liquid protein then you should probably avoid any known triggers for the time being.

If MDMA triggers flareups then you already have your answer, don't you?

I'm betting that anything which taps your serotonin system will probably irritate your bowels. Just a theory.

As mentioned already if you are having a flare up anything that increases GI activity is a bad idea. I dont think serotonin is the trigger. Its the way stimulants speed up the GI. Caffeine is even a bad idea.

Ive been living with UC for 16 years. Despite what most doctors claim in my experience diet is crucial. Complex and simple sugars are food for the undesirable bacteria that is triggering your AI response. Meats, vegetables and fruits with the occasional treat is the diet you want. This is especially true if youve had recent flareups. With this diet and good anxiety management Ive gone 8 years without a flareup.

If you are dead set on using mdma then mix it with a light dose of opiate to mediate the GI response.

Someone I know has Crohn's and has used mdma. That person was not experiencing a flare up when taking mdma. That would be dumb to do. This person experienced less nausea than non-Crohns people though they do suspect the disease might have led to less absorption of the drug and thus fewer side effects. This person didn't rail much and couldn't tell me if there was a difference. This person tells me that stress and lack of sleep can set off a flare up. While mdma relieves this person's stress, they must be careful to recover properly, especially returning to normal sleep patterns, to avoid a negative impact on their health from mdma usage.
