COUNTDOWN2K2 - March 23rd - Key Skate, NYC

omg the sound system in the jungle room sucked! The speaker blew up when I was by it. Saw smoke coming from it.. Hahahahahah ! Rob Gee's performance was probably my favorite for the night. Sorry the meetup spot sucked :( :(
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ..
Trixieee- I heard about that guy :(
spiderman- it was nice seing you.... beating it down candy raver style ...hehehehheh
gmni13- sorry I ran off after saying hi .. :(
Pkat n Linz-E - Nice seeing you 2 :) I'll always recongize those ears ! :)
I know I met some other bluelighters but I forgot who sorrrrrrrry :(

i thought the venue was terrible. only 2 bathrooms, tiny hallways and i just did not like the line up. Frankie Bones was awesome though and i must say the jungle room had the best vibe, mad peeps dancin to da drum and bass, j smooth and Caz
it was awesome. I didnt meet any BLUELIGHTERS
:( , dammit maybe next time. YOu should all come visit me in PHILLY!!
**chichi**

^plus the two in the jungle room making it a grand total of 12 bathrooms. never use the bathrooms in the main room.
ok time for my review:
We arrived at the venue around 8:20, like spiderman said the line didnt budge for an hour. I kept squirming my way through it trying to get to the front but they started so late that i just got so sick of it we paid security $10 each to get in. Corruption rules. As me and part of my massive crew that attended this party walked by the line I heard everybody shouting at us hehe :)
Ok WTF was up with the LACK OF JUNGLE at this party?! There were 3 count em 3 jungle djs that actualy bothered to show up to this party. Dj Ru, Dj Caz, and Kazpa. Soulslinger didnt show, Odi didnt show. I was pissed about odi not showing. Anyone who thought he was spinning was actualy listening to Kazpa. I WANT TO PUNCH ROB GEE IN THE FUCKING FACE. I can stand some hardcore but what he was spinning was garbage and it all sounded the same, plus he blew the fucking speaker which made the entire room sound like shit for the rest of the night I couldnt even stand being in there, although that was the only place i wanted to chill. At one point there was Hardcore in EVERY FUCKING ROOM. the music sucked absolute balls i wanted to strangle someone. Now contrary to the music sucking I had a blast at this party, the people is what made it fun for me.
The Vibe was on an off all night, at times people were really hyped and excited and some times people were just assholes. I almost knocked some kid out for running straight into me, I scared this rolling chick who was standing next to me cuz she thought i was actualy going to hit him. Yea right thats all i need to be dragged out by all of the two security gaurds that work at the key.
As for bluelighters, I didnt meet anyone new, but I wasnt really looking for anyone. I knew too many people at this party and i was constantly talking to them and its really hard to find someone in that place you knew let alone someone youve never met before. I looked for teddy many times during the night and found him maybe three times. I saw connell for a little while w/ junglebunny, plus the usual stamford bl crew. If any of you saw a kid in a blue/yellow vest with bleached blonde hair and black ufos w/ yellow tassles dancing in the jungle room near the deaded speaker that would be me. Me and my girl spent most of the night throwing pennies at people who had glowsticks on strings and i threw at least $2.00 in change at spacegirl, hitting her 90% of the time and the guy filming her. Im sorry but she just sucks and anyone who thinks shes hot needs to be drawn and quartered. Call me jaded, but fuck her.
the crowding wasnt NEARLY as bad as i thought it was going to be, anyone who was at countdown 2001 and the music made me do it knows that it was ten times more packed than that, the only trouble i had walking was leaving and going into the jungle room because the hallway was so small. But at countdown 2001 you had that problem going ANYWHERE.
Nevertheless I still had a blast and i hope everyone else had fun too. lots of happy crackheads running around the place. We left around 4:30 cuz we couldnt take it anymore and partied at home till we passed out.
now for the ever repeatitive shout-outs
Teddy - Always good seeing you, I wanted to party with you for your birthday but I think you understand how many people were here and it was just too difficult to find anyone, let alone wanna stay in the same room for more than 15 mins. I shouldve kept that transformer dude you found and thrown him at spacegirl.
Spiderman, CJ, Paul, and the rest of the stamford crew - i had an awesome time representing ct. At one point we took over the broken speaker corner of the jungle room over and i claimed in the name of stamford. After that everyone was just yelling "stamford!" Many memorable moments during the night
All the other bl'ers - sorry i didnt get to see any of you, some of you I really wanted to meet but it was just too much of a pain in the ass to even recognize people you knew.
Oh and anyone who went outside for fresh air. YOUR INSANE. it was fucking freezing i couldnt even walk by the door in the jungle room without running past it cuz it was so cold.
ok im done bitching and moaning. ill shut up now

Well our evening at CD2K went from bad to good.
Bad was that our DC bus was 3 hours late at the starting point. In fact, it arrived 5 minutes after we'd decided to give up and the smpty guy had given everyone their money back. We'd just been hanging out making alternate plans, some people were already inside the Metro station then the bus shows up!!. Mad sprint to get together all the people who were still around--sprinting down escalators yelling 'the bus is here'. We only recovered half the people. We got there around 11 and the smpty guy had called ahead to Pauley to make sure we got VIP'd in (hell we'd already been waiting 3 1/2 hours!
I spent the whole night in the main room where there was plenty of space to dance and the sound was sweet. Well, actually it ripped my fucking ears off but in a good way. ;-)
Pee lines were terrible, water lines were worse, and getting-to-the-DnB-room lines were impossible.
BL'er Dawn and cru, BL'er Technomatic, BLer SomethingJungleSomething and others said Hi. Thanks. Met lotsa other people from Ultraworld events and new folks who think it's cool that an old dude loves the scene.
Loved Nostrum, Chris Liberator, Frankie and Heather, Spacegirl (ear candy!!). Dave-the-Drummer got a bit harsh and hardcore. Keoki? ugh, what a poser! Shan't bother going to see him again.
So, overall I had about as much fun as can be had from dancing with chemically enhanced hearing for 7 hours to loud electronic music. Which is a whole lotta fun.
Bachus
(how come they never play this music when I'm sober?)

i ACTUALLY HAD A FANTASTIC TIME!
Waited 2 minutes to get in. Never had to wait in line for water or the bathrooms. (I already know by now never use the main bathrooms)Always had plenty of room to dance. The only time I noticed a jam was trying to get into that back hole in the wall to see Rob Gee.
As for the meetups... went at 11. Never saw any sign so I just chilled. Hung near the left side wall mirrors and just danced. Luckily Pkat spotted me and I got to meet a few new blr's which was cool. Bachus... you rock! Glad to make you aquaintence! If you saw me... I was wearing purple plus phat pants and purple galsses. :)
Production was A+... music was a B. I am allegic to Pleasurehead and Space Girl so that was a real bummer.
I had a really good time and got a free Sympty Family shirt and other ish from Pauly which was cool. The party was everything I expected.

I slept the entire Sunday – that party really ate through my energy reserves, and that’s why it was cool.
However, it was way too crowded. We arrived at 10 or so to avoid the line…well, the line was as long as it’s ever been. I had two newbies with me who decided to roll, so I didn’t want to have them stay in the line for the 4 hours. Had to do the unethical thing and tip security to take us in (so we were in at 10:05).
Someone mentioned the security being too relaxed. HAHAHA, security did not exist at all. How do I know? Because we all walked straight through, without stopping for anything or talking to anyone, and when I thought we finally gonna be searched – we were inside already. That’s right – we didn’t talk to a single person on our way in and didn’t pause (I don’t know if that was cause we tipped them, but I think that’s how it was for all pretty much). And that’s how I like it anyway, so fuck it. There’s really no way to search crowd this big and still have the performance the same day.
The crowd was not too PLURish, though the newbies with me found it pretty nice. I mainly spent time in Area 1 & 2. Nostrum, spacegirl, all were OK to dance too, but I'm not pretty selective.
I met ScaryRaver and now know the origin on the nick, great mask man. ;) I’m sure I’ll see you at events and I’ll be in NH area during summer so it would be cool to talk.
Also during the first meet up I was introduced to Speekah Phreekah. Teddy, I actually had a small gift for your b-day, but we were separated during the first meet up and I didn’t see you at the second. :( Still very nice to meet you!
Of course, since we gave ride to Adam HereNnow, I got to meet him. Very smart and cool guy, and I’ll see you at a few events in Philly and DC. We should try Motion during this summer, too.
At the second meet up I ran into candygrl66 (Our very own DJ Sky, as I learned). No doubt I’ll see you at other events and hopefully somewhere where you’re spinning or promoting. Very nice girl – what a nice way to finish the party, though meet up place was not conducive to meeting and we couldn’t really talk. I’ll email you later though.
^^This was during the second meet up and I was already in a pretty bad mood since I was looking for Adam so we can leave (my friends had enough), the door there was open and it was cold and, most importantly, there was no way to talk as it was impossible to hear anything and it was too dark. There is really no point in trying to say anything in this kind of environment.
Now that we all know the Key area – meet up really should be either by the phone or by the game/arcade machines in Area 1. Music is still there, it’s easy to get to, BUT you can also talk and make plans and find out what people think of the music. My friends stood next to the arcade machine for an hour and talked about how this (rave/massive) compares to regular club, and how it’s so much better. (You know, rolling for the 1st time, hehe). Couch could be good for first meet up, when there are fewer people there, but these other areas are OK at anytime, really.
Sorry I didn’t meet up other BLers, but in such a crowd it is hard to see any stickers, or even what people are wearing. So there’ll be many future times. As far as Stamford crew, though, I’m chilling here now and gonna be here for a whole week until another event this coming weekend: either in NYC (paul van dyke) or in Philly (sasha+digweed). So let’s try to talk and maybe something’s going on – or we can simply get something to eat and listen to something.
Finally, since we drove to Key, we left the car in some place that was well lit – but it was tenants of the building parking only. So when we got back we had a $50 parking ticket, but I guess that could be viewed like the cost of parking (and it beats $85 tickets they give you in Manhattan). We went back to our friend’s apartment in Manhattan and actually managed to get a nice meal and coffee – that’s what’s great about NYC, everything’s open and you can do whatever. The music was great and I can still hear it in my head and feel it in my feet (good thing I'm just sleeping/relaxing most of this week).
Alright, that’s it. Peace out!

I liked the party even though i was workin there... I was workin the VIP area if anyone was over there i had a red bandana on with either a grey turtleneck, a white shirt, or a black hoodie, sorry if i was mean to anyone but if i would of let you in i would of got fired if i would of let you use the lockes i would of gotten fired and kicked out... so don't take it personal i still luv ya...

yay. well i can say i wasn't impressed by the venue, though i did enjoy nemesis, ralphie c, and caught the ass end of rob gee's set (damn speaker system crapped out) as well as in the house room *zone 2* for a moment.. yeah so another few reasons i wouldn't like the party
1) crowded, line for everything
2) 3 occurances of vomiting near us, two of which splattered on linze's leg, and my leg.
3)witnessing fellatio being performed in zone 1 *big room* right in front of the speakers in plain site
yeah... what do you expect out of some ny parties.
nonetheless i did have fun wrecking it up, and trying to catch on to the scratch patterns laid down by ralphie c,
speekah, thanks for the session, and was nice to meet your bro. i'll get your addy and mail you a few phreaky cd's
dazzle, was a pleasure recognizing you, if only we caught up sooner, it felt like "hey there's dazz... oops we gotta go."
yeah. sure is great not following meetup protocol.
to all the other blue's we might have missed or have bumped into. hope your night was fun and hope to meet up once sometime.
take care.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^
Thanx Sean. You rock!
My friends, my brother and I got to the venue at about 9-ish and noticed that the lines weren't moving an inch.... Me and my crew proceeded to walk ALLLLLLL the way towards the end of the line when I heard someone near the front of the line yell my name, enableing us to cut in front of nearly 1000 people. hehe (Thanx Steve)
::Fast Forward 11:00::
We're finally inside. I take a moment to acclimate myself to my surroundings and re-familiarize myself to the venue...i.e which rooms to avoid (DnB/Hardcore Room) et. al... Noticed they were playing Hardcore (bleh) in every room (!) at one point. From here, I try to convince myself that things will get better and to expect the unexpected...
Somehow, during the tedious trek from the DnB room to area 2, I lost my brother.... I spent a good deal trying to find him through the ever thickening crowd. I felt really bad for losing him because this was his first party and I really didn't want to leave him all alone. So I stayed near the entrance to see if I could see him coming from the DnB room
At this point, I waited around for some really good friends of mine from RI to come. They hardly drive out of their state for anything, but promised they were coming to celebrate my birthday. I waited by the entrance for what seemed like forever to see if I could see them. I honestly thought they got lost or something. Now I'm worried and pissed (as these were to be my official party suppliers for the evening..) luckily, Pat (ScaryRaver) was always around to entertain me and make me laugh and make sure I had fun. I finally acknowledge that they're not coming and decide to see what the rest of the night yields...
::Fast Forward 1:30::
I find my brother, the most stoic and reserved of all people, dancing uncontrolably in area 2. I honestly thought he was rollin'. LOL. He wasn't. I was very surprised to see he was having a fantastic time and had already made lots of friends. My brother manages a very high volume retail business and hardly ever allows himself time off. He's very disciplined, pragmatic, and not easily influenced. He mostly frequents the Hip Hop clubs and the most he's ever done was get drunk ONCE....
My brother and I find the rest of my friends and head towards area 1 to check out Spacegirls set. Somewhere between area 2 and area 1, we run into our friends from RI!!!
::Fast Forward 2:00::
Now I'm having lots of fun as I'm surrounded by all my favorite people. Out of nowhere, my brother decides to have more fun!!!! I gave him the biggest bear hug ever! Towards the middle of Spacegirl's set, pure euphoria set in. (you guys know what I'm talkin' about!) My brother was having a BLAST!!! (this was his very first time)... and then we saw the guy on acid who decided to strip and flaunt his umm shortcomings...
The rest of the night was just 100% pure fun! I met lots of cool people, the vibe in areas 2 and 1 were awesome all night. I had a FANTASTIC time!! Maybe a bit too much fun.... It's been like four months since I've last had fun as I've been more inclined towards veterinarian delights as of late. On the way back home, I could hardly focus and forgot I had like three cars following me back to CT. Too busy bonding with my brother and talking about random stuff, I end up missing several exits and ended up going over the Tappan Zee bridge twice (!) We almost ended up in Albany. hehe
Luckily, one of my friends took over and asked one of the toll guys for directions towards the Merritt Pkwy and we were able to get home....and have even more fun...lol
::Shout outs::
Maui2k/Steve Thanx for yelling my name. hehe if you didn't, I'd still be waiting in line today....lol
ScaryRaver/Pat Thank you SO very much for making me laugh, keeping me entertained, for introducing me to your friends, and for going way out of your way, even to the point of inconvenience, to make sure I had fun. I owe you one. Much respect!
Explore Nice meeting you man. Hope to chill with you again in the near future..
Adam hereNnow I think I met you when I met Explore..right? I can't remember... Hopefully, I'll get to chill with you in the near future too.
ProvJungleKid/Connell & NycJunglebunnie/Lara Great seeing you guys again as always. Lara, glad I could help. =)
Dazzle Such a cutie! Pleasure finally meeting your aquaintance.
P-kat/Sean & Linz-E Great seeing you guys in NY again! Had lots of fun chillin/wrecking it up with you, Sean. I hope your friend you introduced me to was able to decipher what I was saying to her. hehe I was ROCKED!!!
GTi Kid/Mike Had lots of fun chillin'/dancin' with you and Dan. Nice meeting/dancing with your kewl sister as well.
Tech Kinetics As always, great to see you again. OMG, I could watch you pop and lock all day.... Was Function's set incredible or what?!
I think I've met more, but I honestly can't remember. Please forgive me if I've forgotten you.
To all the BLrs I've met, THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY BIRTHDAY A MOST UNFORGETABLE AND INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I love you guys!
-Teddy

Yo Teddy glad to hear you had a good time kid. Sorry I couldnt make it out for this one...even though i really wanted too!!! Money has been mad tight the past few weeks...(saving the money for a car and apartment). On May 4th I know Icey is spinnin at the Asylum so hopefully you'll come on out for that one. It's the week before my birthday. And I think like 2 weeks after that we are gonna have a house party too. Well glad to hear your birthday went well. Peace!!! :)

When I first left the party around 5:30, my mind was set on hating it, but now that I look back I can say the party was pretty fun. At least there wer no roller skaters in the main room, well, except that munchkin dude.
The party seemed to go by mad quick, the music to me sucked, Odi didn't show, too packed(excpected), Too much Hardcore, got ripped off, WAIT A MINUTE!!! what am I talking about, this party sucked ASS!!!
I guess the only fun part was seeing some Bluelighters's and all my friends, yea, everything else sucked, especially the speakers. -PEACE!!

Hmmm...from reading this long thread i gather there were a lot of CT BL'ers there. I did meet a kid (nice - Rafal?) who was from CT and looking for his friends. :-) But no BL'ers as far as I know. Went to the mirror and no BL'ers, no liquid, no breakers, no nothing xcept for pools of etardiness. :-( Oh well. Next time.

whoa-
did you have your eyes closed man? My friends had an ill liquid circle going on most of the party. If you caught the guy with the alien mask and silver robe giving lessons, that was us too. We never left that area except to show support for erep who is part of NATAS. We all had on long black tee shirts with white silkscreened kids on the front and "undaground tekno massif" printed down the left sleeve. I had on purple velvet pants and purple sunglasses. You probably walked right by us if you were in that area. :)
oh well, maybe next time... im happy I met the bluelighters I did.

Whazzup Icey!
Yeah, I had tons of fun! Wish you were there. See you at Boo 6?
I really had my heart set on meeting Gmni13/Erik and Princess Lolita/Melissa. Hopefully, I'll get to meet you guys at Boo.

My apologies to all those I didn't get a chance to meet/converse with/party with. Timing just sucked for this party.
It started off cool. Two train stops later and we just happened to be on the same car as TriXieee. I thought it was a pseudo-sighting and was nervous about saying, "Hey TriXieee!" especially considering it's not your real name ;) .
We got to the Key around 10:30 and ended up splitting up because some of us didn't have tickets. My gripe with this was the non-ticket holders getting in LONG before we did. xena starting shit with security made the evening. I'll be damned that they pull in $1000s for "VIP." Fuck that. YOU'RE ALL SHADY! On a positive note, they did make it a point to mention they weren't affiliated with Sympty.
Despite the cattle herds, I had a good time. The music had my full attention for the night and I was driven to dance.
Nostrum's set was pumping, but nothing like last year's Countdown. Frankie Bones and Heather Heart were mediocre in the beginning. All I wanted to do was hear Space Girl. It became increasingly frustrating as their set became hotter and hotter as it came to a close. Space Girl opened with "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." I thought it was kind of weak, it got me started, nonetheless. With a lot of new material, Space Girl did not dissapoint. The last party she was at let me down. Her new material was very sappy and soft. There's no room for the Queen of HARD Acid Trance to be soft. Vlada, you didn't let me down.
Since we didn't get in until 12AM, the first meetup wasn't going to happen. xena wasn't feeling especially well so we left immediately after Space Girl's set.
-spiderman- It's always good seeing you. Are you ever in a bad mood? ;)
droppie5 What's that all about? We sneak you into the line with us and never hear from you again? ;) It's all good. We'll catch up at the next.
princess lolita Can I just assume you were majorly fucked up? You said hello and then ran off; understood. Then, 20 minutes later I say hello as you pass by and get, "Do I know you? Um, you look familiar." I guess you got a hold of that dip.
Charl-e-J You always have the biggest smile on when I see you. It's a shame we didn't get more of a chance to shoot the shit. I guess this wasn't the party to do it at.
Pkat n Linz-E We caught a glimpse of you as you passed us by on the line. Shoulda jumped on with us. We could have saved you a half hour to an hour.
All in all, a good time. I'm upset because I was originally going to go to Ultra but things turned to shit. The Key has PLENTY of room to dance. You just have to find your niche. Once again, *I* found no problem with the venue or the vibe. It was a little crowded (understatement of the year) but I didn't come with high expectations. Needless to say, my expectations were surpassed.
See everyone at the next massive!
~Erik
