There seems to be two camps on multivitamins. One saying they can be helpful if its the right one for you. The other saying they do nothing, are useless, possibly to the extent of being bad for you.
I may be wrong, but from what I understand, the people in the second camp are mostly trying to say that they should not replace healthy eating as its alot more healthy to get your vitamins from food, and taking them as well as eating can lead to a higher than recommended levels of those nutrients. Studies have shown that those who took them daily were no less susceptible to ill health.
Now I have noticed that most of these points are relevant to the daily use of multivitamins as a health supplement.
Now say I'm on a stim crusade for 2-3 days. I'm eating infrequently and usually only filling/energy rich foods (e.g. ham & cheese sandwich). In this situation could a multivitamin a day help moderate the toll on my body by providing essential ions and whatnot.
In short if multivitamins pointless on a day to day basis because they aren't as good as just eating, then in a situation where healthy eating just isn't likely to happen, could they be used as a short term means of maintaining levels?
