So I have been taking suboxone for three days now... However, after my last sub dose yesterday at about 8pm, about 1/4 sub-lingual strip, I railed a 30 mg oxycodone about one hour after taking my strip. I then proceeded to take rail another two 30mg oxy today in the afternoon. Does the suboxone block the effects of the oxycodone so I can take another sublingual strip tomorrow morning without going into precipitated withdrawals? Or do I need to wait a full 24 hours from my last oxy dose?

Yes, suboxone does block effects of other opioids. Thats the point. To discourage addiction. I'd at least wait til you feel like shit to take the sub.

Yeah doing that oxy on top of bupe is total waste, but i could feel fire H after just a handful of hrs with a 1/4 sub... Either way, do yourself a favor in life, your brain, body, personality and money will thank you sooner than later and stop fuckin around just take low dose bupe for awhile , the more you use opiates on subs, & go thru that sub induction the less subs will work for you.
Take it from somebody who learned the hard way
Best if luck

Ya gotta wait at least 24 hrs to take other opiates subs gotta long half life. Also, there's countless threads on the site askin the exact same ? Use the search button.

He is asking if he has to worry about precipitated withdrawals again if he takes another dose of sub after the oxycodone because he would still technically have the first dose of sub in his body still despite taking the oxycodone.

At least I think that's what he means.

Frankly, in opposition to common belief, you can still get back to a full agonist (like oxy, heroin etc) HIGH, even after taking sub. The problem is you would have to take mega doses to get there, and doing anything right after you take sub, is going to mean you will need like 6x your regular opiate dose. As one person has said, waiting 24 hours makes it come thru easier, tho even at 24 hours, you are still looking at having to take a larger dose. Sometimes much larger. It also depends on what you are using, very strong opiates such as oxymorphone or very strong heroin can also break thru sub. Why bother. If you must, just wait. If you are talking about precipitated WD, the answer is NO. Its the other way around, you would get precipitated WD only after regular opiates are taken and then you try to take sub. That can be really really bad, but thankfully lasts about 90 minutes. Mite be the worst 90 minutes of your life tho. When you do that, the suboxone (which may be the strongest opioid in some ways), strips the regular opiate molecules off of your receptors thus causing severe symptoms. Scary, happened to me twice. I thought I gave it enough time and was wrong.

I have been reading a lot of replies about suboxone and i am getting confused or just plain nervous. i have been on 120mg of oxycodone IR per day for the last 2 years for back problems and of course i became addicted and even abused my meds because i did like the high along with the releif from back pains.......i was just prescribed suboxone strips 16 mgs daily and have yet to take them yet....my questions are when is the best time to start taking the subs, does the suboxone get you high because i go to school and work so i dont want to be messed up during those times, and does sub really work pretty good as far as keeping me from going into withdraws.........sorry if my questions sound confusing or for asking many questions at one time.........any insight from you guys would really be appreciated......have a great weekend and thanks again

mrchris, please listen to me. I am 48 and have been thru all this.....exactly what you are talking about. Ok, you are on a relatively moderately high dose of oxy and have been for some time. Your transition to sub is better than staying on the oxy. When you first take the sub it might be weird for up to 3 days, possibly low energy and mild symptoms. Everyone I know that cycles off regular opiates to suboxone calls the first 2 or 3 days the "suboxone transition", after that they feel well. I dont recommend that cycle tho.....its pure addict. Doctors still do not know how to script sub, 16mg might be OK for the first dose (this is called induction). I would never take more than 8mg after that, after about 5 days you may find that 4mg does the trick and keeps you well, 2mg in the morn and the other 2 at night. 16mg is a very high dose of sub and you will get addicted to it faster. If you have the guts, I would only take the sub for 3 weeks max and taper with 3 weeks. It can help you get off opiates altogether an help hold back a massive WD. You will not feel great as you have been on opiates too long, so give it time after your last dose of sub. Give it a month, seems like you are a young guy (assumed from your being in school). The young folks have stronger systems and I think recover faster, but are not as wise and program screw ups are all to frequent. What I have told you is accurate.

mrchris, to answer your other questions. Take sub at least 48 hours after last oxy dose. It can be more simple than that tho, for the most part if you are withdrawing hard off of the oxy, then it is generally safe to take the sub. Sometimes within 24 hours is OK. I doubt you will get high off it, some people do tho after they have been on it a few days or more. That is why I recommend smaller doses. Please be aware that sub could easily cause overdoses in people that do not take opiates, its that strong of an opioid, but it lasts long and generally will not get opiate users high. It could get someone who does not use very very high or worse... OD. It is not unheard of for someone who has never taken an opiate to OD and die off of 3 or 4mgs of suboxone. It wont hurt you tho, you have upregulated your receptors by taking for a while, so you are safe. Be glad its only been 2 years and not longer.

the dr told me to do 2mg at a time every few hours until i feel better. as far as the oxy i take 30 mg 4 times a day which equals 120 mg. btw im not that young, i am 41 years old. im just really worried about the withdraws and side affects from the suboxone, plus i have heard of people getting high and addicted to the sub, which i do not want to be stoned all day from the sub.......i will admit i did like oxy at first because it did make me feel real good but i stuck to the dosage so i could get rid of the pain in my back, then i was getting stressed with school and work and that is when i started to abuse them........like i stated earlier i am nervous because of worrying about withdraws and not wanting to be high because i have a lot of homework.......thanks foor the info timetohunt, i appreciate it very much

I get the picture. And maybe your doctor is not so dumb. Taking the 2mg when you feel bad is a fine way to work with sub. But to answer your main question, SUB is very addictive. It usually starts to become addictive after about a month or say (it will vary for everyone, but that seems to be about average. If you stay on it for many months or years.....it could be a worse WD than any other opiate. Long half life opiates (or should I say opioids), are only easier than oxy or herion the first few days, then a very long and hard WD follows, badgering your ever second. Even with the sub you are still going to have to pay a bit of a price for the 2 years you were on OXY. YET, your situation is actually quite bright, you never went way above your suggested dose and its been only 2 years. Many folks have much worse to go against. Like I said, if possible, use the suboxone to come off the oxy, 3 weeks max with a taper. Search 'rapid suboxone taper' online. You will still not be feeling well for a bit, but after a few weeks you could be all fixed up. Your usage was not MEGA.
