ive searched google and this forum for answer but cant really find anything specific

i plan to withdrawl from heroin after a short taper and am wonering if tramadol will ease the pain. ive heard tram w/d is way worse then any opiate so what im wonddering is if i take tramadol say 36 hours in, will i then start withdrawling from that ( same as say if i take hydro, i would be w/e from heroin then if i take a hydro, i would then withdrawl from the hydro instead of the heroin)

is this confusing?

i've never heard of tram having the worst withdrawls of any opiate :/ I was addicted to it after using it to detox off of oxycodone. the withdrawls aren't that bad but i wouldn't recommend it because of the seizure problems, that's not something to accidentally want to cause while detoxing from H. You could use hydrocodone but try to use it in small doses to avoid addiction, it's withdrawls are no easier than H

Ive had a long addiction to tramadol. i cant compare the w/ds to other opiates because i only do other occasionally. I feel as if tramadol w/ds after a sizeable amount of doing it everyday are noticeable. Not too bad but definately a withdrawal.

Tramadol could help with taking away some of the withdrawal symptoms. Some people get nothing from tramadol because their body does not produce the required enzyme that is needed to break the tramadol down. I've used tramadol to combat withdrawal symptoms from hydrocodone, oxycodone, and morphine, all successfully. Don't recommend the following though. I had a big tramadol habit two years ago and thè amounts I usèd were over the recommended doses, way over. But if you do the taper then use the tramadol, and use it no longer than a few days to a week, you should be safe. One reason tramadol withdrawal is so hard is because of the SNRI effects it has in the brain. But you would have to be on it for a longer period of time than I am suggesting. Good luck!

the reason i ask is becuae i know if your withdrawling from heroin, and you take a hydro to ease it, you with then withdrawl from the hydro the next day instead of the heroin. my question is will the same happen wirh tramadol or is it not really an interchangable opiate like that. i dont plan to take it more than 2-3 day. plus i only have 200 mg lol.

thank you all so much for the help. i hope i can find stuff to do tomarrow will im w/e. thats the wosrt part for me is still there in my own brain squirming

It is actually hard to be truly physically addicted totramadol. Most people its all psychological as with so many other non opiatedrugs. Now I know a few of you will yell and scream about how you were so addictedto tramadol, yet the mind is a very powerful thing when it comes to wanting andneeding.

Maybe you missed the fact that tramadol (and its main metabolite) is, in fact an opioid... it's easy enough to be physically addicted to tramadol. Especially if you're blessed with a liver that has extra CYP2D6 enzymes. All you have to do is take it on a regular basis, like every 4-6 hours, for a few days to a week. Especially in high doses.

It's certainly a more effective painkiller than plain opiates, so you can get away with using less for the same analgesic efficacy, but it's not like tramadol addiction is "all in your head" like you're implying.
