I’m thinking of going to CAMH in 2 days to talk to someone for a 2nd opinion.
Does anyone know what I should do?

If I remember correctly aren't you off your order now & can choose wether you're still on medication? I remember you posting months back so if you've been compliant & had more shots even though you don't have to you've done more than you should have & you should take a stand which they should have to listen to.
Tell them you've tried continuing but don't like the side effects & you've decided you want to go on tablets. But atleast you'll have them there if you ever need to take them for a week or two if you go into psychosis again.

Keep reminding yourself it's your choice & you have every right to make it. If I remember you don't even have to see the psychiatrist again do you? You were contemplating wether or not to completely ignore their call? Why don't you write down what you want to say then give them a call be firm & tell them you'll come in for an appointment because you want a script for tablets. Maybe even email them so you have that as proof.
Have you gone into psychosis before or been admitted before?

I eventually got a good psychiatrist so I was lucky. When I first went home the community centre that was meant to be looking after me was too full so they kept me with a psychiatrist & nursing team from hospital. I requested a review because I had a right to & they actually could take me off injection or revoke cto if they decided to. I was well spoken & brought notes with me but the psychiatrist & nurse were horrible & refused to consider taking me off injection.
But then I was transferred to community centre & the new psychiatrist was amazing I presented the same notes to him & atfirst he said he would give me one shot of 50mg then 25mg then put me on tablets but I was firm & said I wanted to go on tablets so he agreed. Do you live at home or have support of family? That might help because I told him he could ring my dad. But even if you live at home & your parents would admit you if you went into psychosis even if they're not supportive you can still work that in your favour because they want to know that you've got people who will admit you again.

I was also in the process of going to supreme court to revoke cto I was granted legal aid because the lawyer said I should've never been on it in the first place & due to a technicality thought had a strong case. So not long after that I was taken off the cto which was also thanks to the psychiatrist because he fought for me to be taken off it

The argument that even the good psychiatrist made is that apparently if you don't take injection or medication for 6 months to change your brain chemistry you have a high chance of relapsing. I only had the 2 loading doses & one 75mg dose. Then took one tablet. If you've taken it for more than 6 months then they really don't have an argument & it should be your choice

Hey honey I know you only mean to help but we have to be really careful about explicitly telling people to not take their psych meds, because IF someone takes this advice, stops their meds, gets sick, goes in to psychosis and something really bad happens as a result like they hurt themselves or someone else....well... 🤷‍♀️
So I'm just gonna edit that part of your post out <3

@Dre87 this is a harm reduction forum. Please do not suggest dopaminergic drugs to people who are healing from antipsychotics, some of whom may have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder, and some of whom can go in to psychosis easily. Drugs that act on dopamine can be very dangerous to such people. Please take more care when posting in the Mental Health forum in the future.

I thought this might happen, guess you don't actually want any real solutions and choose to believe in the propaganda..

I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly, however if you have a read of these Invega threads you will see that we discuss and encourage many different healthy ideas and approaches to recovering from Invega. We just do not allow discussion of potentially harmful ones. Pretty simple 🤷‍♀️

I’m 1.5 months away from my last 39mg shot. I had tapered from 156 to 117 to 78 to 39 and now off all INVEGA.

I’m still feeling really tired and drained.

My cognitive has gotten much better since being on 156mg shots. I don’t get confused at work and make mistakes all of the time now.

I feel more joy doing things with my 8yr old son and my gfs son. Still not 100%, but doing better.

I’m still super lazy and lack motivation. Vyvanse helps. I’m starting to feel the vyvanse work again.

On Tuesday I’m going to sign up at the YMCA and start exercising. I want to lose the weight I’ve gained on INVEGA.

I’m hopeful that over the next few months I’ll get my energy back. Im hoping exercise will give me a little boost.

Im not at 100%, but I can function now. I hope it keeps getting better.

Dopamine theory already got disarmed and thrown in the bin...latest evidence shows its all caused by low dopamine . Your totally if you still stick to 70 year old theories...its 2022 when does this idiocracy stops. Can't believe moderators are stil falling for propaganda

*edited out derogatory slur - n3o*

I am aware of the current theories. I have several degrees in the field of Psychology and have actually studied the dopamine pathways in the prefrontal cortex in depth.

*edit - oh and I think it goes without saying, but please do not use any kind of derogatory language in this thread, otherwise you will receive an official warning, thank you.

Hey so today im going to order a 3 month supply of sarcosine (180g) taking 2g a day. It apparently helps with the bad feelings we who suffer from antipsychotics feel. Ill let you know how it goes.

What did he suggest? Meth?

I take vyvanse to feel better from invega and no one has told me to stop posting about it. Isn’t that a dopaminergic drug?

Okay look, if we wanna get technical, let's get technical 😊

The latest theories about schizophrenia still include the hypothesis that presynaptic hyperdopaminergia at the D2 receptors causes psychosis, amongst other hypotheses (e.g. GABA, glutamate etc), so it makes sense that dopaminergic drugs are going to induce or exacerbate psychosis. We know for a fact that meth in particular completely rapes the dopamine receptors, both causing the release and inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine at the same time, thus absolutely flooding the synapses with dopamine. The difference with Vyvanse is that one of its metabolites is l-lysine which slows down the metabolism of the amphetamine metabolite, so its effect is not nearly as dramatic.

Basically, if someone with a tendency to experience psychosis takes meth, (or to a lesser extent but still likely, speed, coke) they are pretty much guaranteed to go in to psychosis at some point.

So in this thread we have to be exceptionally careful when talking about dopaminergic drugs and as a blanket rule, meth is discouraged.

Just took the results for my blood exams I did back in June (at 2 months since last shot) on July 4th (76 days since last shot)

Prolactin was at 18 ng/ml which is a lot lower than I was expecting while total testosterone was at 13 nmol/l. FT3 was also lower and the rest of the test/thyroid values were within range but still in the extreme lower part of said range

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to interpret these values because I still feel strongly affected by Xeplion when it comes to sexual functions now (libido, erections and general desire) at 84 days since last shot

My cognitive, memory and reaction abilities seem somewhat slightly better than last update (might just be one of those so called windows) but still not where I *need* them to be functional

still can't feel emotions or music in a proper way either and I can still feel anhedonia kicking

What really worries me is that with prolactin not being excessively off-range I won't get prescribed anything to help restore these values to normal and that instead they'll probably just give me some SSRI bullshit that I'm not going to take

EDIT 10 hours later: I only got prescribed the exams back in June and actually did them 8 days ago, hot DAMN that's a demonstration of how terrible my memory really is right now

yeah low dopamine confuses your brain like A LOT. You also can't form proper memories and access them because dopamine and serotonine is ONLY THING that is responsible for storing and accesing them easily and when needed, that can actualy cause mania or derealisation because you can forget important memories connected with emotions, feelings, etc of others and yourself and then you are confused until you start getting some pieces of that back. Your CNS is put in survival mode and thats why lot of people have anxiety or chest pains.

Is marijuana dopaminergic?
