Wow thats a lot. Yeah i was splitting a blunt with a buddy for like 4 months straight everyday. Then i got psychosis and i get put on meds and it goes away. Then i recover from the meds and psychosis also comes back. It sucks it has to be pernament. I dont understand why the brain cant recover from it. Its like a door that once you open it cant be closed.
You are right about earlier, that is a lot and I haven’t really thought about the whole psychosis in a long time since our conversation, I really should watch my usage, plus as I’ve gotten older I don’t really like smoking all day like when I was younger

Are you diagnosed with schizophrenia or psychosis if you don’t mind me asking? It sounds like schizophrenia which cannabis and drugs can cause that, because my first doctor the one who gave me invega told me I had schizophrenia and I needed to be on invega for the rest of life, then I had 2 other opinions from other doctors and they both said I had psychosis from meth then they put me on 2mg risperdone, I cold turkey medication and have no symptoms for almost 2 years now. Also I have another question what age did this happen to you? I a lot of people I’ve talked to on grass city forum we’re in their early 20s and teens but they were able to recover and smoke again, but some were not and can’t ever again.
First i was diagnosed with drug induced psychosis. Then in the hospital was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was smoking from 20 to 23. The psychosis happened at 23. When i was 20 to 22 id say i was smoking at least once a week. Then in 23 i was smoking a blunt everyday and this led me to get psychosis.

Yeah I was around the same age also.

So ive been on a CTO for a year so i was getting injections for a year. Now im finally off it. So now im in same boat as rest of you trying to recover from a year long worth of injections. Hopefully i dont end up on more injections after i recover. That would be the worse. Im guessing ill recover in a year like everyone else. Ots so weird it takes a year to recover. Why does the recovery have to be so slow.
Because the medication is slowly released into ur bloodstream, it builds up in your system and the fact that the medication has a super long half life(the time it takes your body to get rid of it) doesn't help either. Yeah invega is fking POISON.

Did you experience sexual problems from Invega? And it resolved itself completely?
It does, takes a while though. I haven't had that shit injected on me but a close friend of me has and I witnessed how he slowly progressed and finally overcame that dirty chemical.

your friend got cured?

how long did it take to heal? how many injections?
I think he had 3 injections 100mg and 2-3 50mgs I'm not sure. Like 150-200mg in total. In my country the doses or invega there's available are low compared to the US, NEVERTHELESS it's still a fucking nightmare to be om that shit. But yeah it took like only 4-5 months for him to feel better. One of the signs that you're getting better is when u can cum again, my friend told me for the first 2 months he couldn't expel semen, that along with all the normal annoying side effects like lethargy, mental fog, tremors, etc. But yeah, his metabolism helped him get rid of it fast. He still had a massive desire to get high, fucked up really bad, stole a shit ton of money from his mom, went on a 3 day IM ket bender and is in rehab now. I told him he was gonna end up there but didn't wanna listen to me. I hope he's doing good though.

Yeah, his shrink prescribed that shit to my friend but it just made him crave more drugs and to be unable to continue with his studies. It completely ruined his life, well his life was already fucked but the invega just made matters worse.

Hi guys do you have any advice about how to manage a psychosis without meds?
Hey @Mick04 I would say the first step would be to find a psychotherapist that has experience treating people with psychosis/schizophrenia. As you probably already know, a therapist is NOT a psychiatrist and therefore does not prescribe meds. They are someone you talk to. A psychotherapist may be able to help you learn coping skills and how to deal with triggers as well even working through things from the past.

If you want to read books by a psychiatrist who advocates against the widespread use of meds in psychiatry, I would recommend finding some books by Joanna Moncrieff. I only recently heard of her through this thread last week and I downloaded one of her books on Amazon Kindle. I'm probably not going to quit my meds lol but I just wanted to see what the fuss was about. The book I read was insightful and it seems like she knows her shit.

Yes. My hair was super greasy & awful. My skin got really bad as well. I struggled with showering too - I couldn't get any pleasant feelings from it & so avoided doing it. I was very skinny from not eating in psychosis when I got on Invega - I probably gained around 55 lb total. I got to a size 12 for the first time in my life - now, not on invega, I could eat my worst and not get above a 10 - it really does change how your body holds weight. Photos -
https://ibb.co/f4HytRV - this is me in July 2018. I was hospitalized and had my first shot at the end of September 2018. I had a loading dose and 4 shots total
https://ibb.co/ZGXr60V - This may have been about a month off Invega. I was going to the gym - I literally couldnt make a different expression
https://ibb.co/jTbQ2dj This was on Invega (can' flip it)
https://ibb.co/NTrGPSQ November 2019 (11 months off - I was able to live on my own but struggling with anhedonia clouded decision making and not feeling fully "recovered" - I would relapse 4 months later)
https://ibb.co/chkfPqw July 2020 18 months off - could feel the sun, the booze, and go places without feeling affected by invega anymore
https://ibb.co/VqnFKj0 Spring 2021 over two years off Invega, feeling spiritual, fully happy, no worries, and pregnant with my third child
https://ibb.co/xj29YgS Nov '21 at the start of fall quarter for my junior year of college - feeling no intellectual setbacks whatsoever
https://ibb.co/NrnTHfV Dec '21 (Almost three years off - feels like a lifetime)
https://ibb.co/R2rNsns March 2022 times are so happy and invega is a distant memory - but I still remember those days of struggle and months that feel like years of a life worse than hell, so I hope that these pictures can help some people.

If you are worried about what would happen if you relapsed into psychosis, work with your psych to make something called an "ADVANCED DIRECTIVE" . This will tell people exactly how you feel and how you want your care to go when you are unable to articulate yourself. It's SO IMPORTANT to do this and not get shot again - they'll give you the same med you have had before unless they're told otherwise.

Thankyou for posting this. You look great although you look good on invega still too. Invega has made me look like an absolute freak my double chin is out of control I've put on 17 kilos & seem to be putting on up to 1.5kgs a week even though I'm 4 months off. I feel like I'll never look like myself again. I can't remember if I asked this but how long after invega did you start losing weight? Did you have to go to gym to lose it or did you naturally lose some? How often did you workout? How many shots after the 2 loading doses did you get? (I can't remember if you've answered this sorry)

Do you mind if I ask what was your psychosis about? When you relapsed did you have the same kind of psychosis? How long did your relapse last for did it go away without anymore medication?
Did your hair change texture aswell? Was it harder to style? Mine has changed texture completely & won't hold it's shape even if I straighten it like I used to. The greasiness has maybe improved a tiny bit. Whenever I'd wash it as soon as I'd dry it it would straight away feel like it had build up on it & wouldn't dry properly it would still feel damp & weird. It's maybe improved slightly but it's still horrible & doesn't sit right or suit me.

What month did you feel your anhedonia start lifting? Do you remember the moment you first realised it was lifting what was that like? When was the first time you felt emotions again what was it like?
Sorry for all that question haha
