This case study shows how one woman suffering from colitis actually was able to improve her symptoms and manage her pain.
This is particularly important to me because I have been suffering from internal bleeding, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal pains that have grown so severe over the past month that I am now nearly completely sapped of all my energy and appetite. Unfortunately, I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet, but all the symptoms sound like some form of colitis.
I just want to vouch first hand on the positive effects that marijuana can have on a person with severe abdominal pain.
This page also has testimonials from dozens of colitis patients.

This is just one more reason why medical marijuana is a very real thing, and any debate about it needs to stop now.
The thing that makes marijuana special in this case is that it stimulates appetite. I have gone a few days without eating over the course of this past February just because I was in so much pain that I had absolutely no desire to eat. These past few days I have been living off a few pieces of toast here and there, but when I have stuff to smoke I can actually handle a good sized meal without any repercussions.
It also greatly reduces the stomach pain. It reduces the feeling that I have to constantly go.
When I am not stoned I feel like I could almost spend all day in the bathroom, but when I light up a bowl it gives me several hours before I have to go again.
I recently got sober off opiates and I also quit my daily marijuana habit during this time. I decided I wanted to try and live soberly, but then one day I notice blood in my toilet bowl after going to the bathroom. From then on it has done nothing but gotten worse. Advil, Tylenol, Aleive, Immodium, Mylanta, Tums, Pepto-Bismol, Day-Quil, and every combination of the above treatments did almost NOTHING to curb my pain and actually deal with my symptoms. Then I decided marijuana was the only thing left to try. And it worked!
The other important thing is that it takes your mind off of the pain and the bullshit you are dealing with. When I am sober it's like I can't not think about how shitty I am feeling, but when I am stoned, not only is my body not in pain, but my mind isn't even considering the fact that I have colitis. It's a total psychological and physical treatment to such a crappy disease.
Also it's what allowed me to go to school. Because of marijuana I have been able to go to classes.
