G'day guys. Long time background snooper here, only just registered today though.

Is it a normal or known WD symptom from codeine (2,000g a day /480g a go) to have severe discomfort in the chest area leading to the shoulders and clavicle (NOT the heart). The only way to rid it is to contort so severely to enable a weird kind of stretch. It went on for hours until he took a dose and after a bit it slowed and then went.

This advice is for a mate. I went through the WD years ago and am helping him out but didn't experience this and haven't read of it. Has anyone else?

It's normal for muscles and bones to ache all over your body. Everyone is different. See a doctor if they persist longer then a week. Stay strong.

^Yup. Sounds like he's probably got a postural/muscular issue there which was brought into focus by the extra aching the w/d's cause.

^I wouldn't say particularly in those areas mentioned though. You didn't mention age, but pain anywhere in the upper torso/ shoulder reason should be checked out by a dr. Especially if your mate is no spring chicken. Bygones, it was a late answer & seems the situations resolved itself.

What they said. Im assuming you meant mg not grams right? I cant imagine what the itch would be like taking 2000 grams!!

Hey folks, cheers for the responses. Yes it was mg, my bad! And he is 28 years old. He's since decided to taper down and not do it so quickly. His missus and I are helping him out with holding onto tabs and giving them to him instead of him being in control of that as I know from past experiences that if they're there and you are WDing, you'll take them!

Cheers again, it just seemed so severe and odd that I wanted to see if others had experienced it.

At 480mg a go I have to ask - is he filtering out the paracetemol/ibuprofen? Because if not he should get checked out ASAP for side effects, consistent high level intake of paracetemol/ibuprofen can be fatal.
