Hi folks,

So over the space of a few hours i've ingested 50mg diazepam. My tolerance is low to medium.

I intend to ingest approximately 300mg of codeine tomorrow morning upon waking on an empty stomach. I had a daily habit up to 600mg for around 18 months before detoxing and spending a few months sober. In the last few weeks however I've picked it up again and use once every four-five days. It's fair to say my tolerance is on the low-medium end of the scale.

My question is, as I intend to ingest 300mg upon waking tomorrow morning, what HR procedures can I put in place to reduce the risk of severe respiratory depression (due to the combined combination of Diazepams half life and the empty stomach i'm going to be ingesting the codeine on?) The essence of my question is; how much should I reduce my dose from 300mg to? 200mg?

Thanks for you replies.

Most of the effects of diazepam wear off in a couple of hours even though it has a long persistence in the body, you'll probably not have to reduce your dose much.

You can always take more, you can't untake drugs if they're too potent. Start at maybe 200mg and see what happens.

It's a fine combination.
The dangers of combining downers are overestimated... at the doses you're talking about, it doesn't sound dangerous at all (even if you had no tolerance).

Another question in the same ilk, however It may warrant it's own separate thread.

The half life of diazepam is very long. Peak plasma is achieved between 30-90 minutes, however.

How long approximately do the therapeutic effects therefore last? Does each therapeutic benefit last for a different period of time (I.e. Anxiolysis vs muscular skeletal relaxation, etc.)
