First of all I am obviously not a doctor but I have some thoughts on this from working in hospitals and knowing many medical professionals. You lower back more than likely hurts from the constriction of vessels and muscles along with posture. If your upper back is hurting it is more than likely not your back you are feeling but instead your lungs. Coke use can cause pleurisy. This is basically fluid build up around your lungs and chest cavity. For example is your feel tightness in your chest or upper back when you take a deep breath or if it feels like you have pain in your heart when taking a deep breath or moving a certain way. It should go away on its own after a few days of not using. Mine will take about 36 hours to go away but I only get it when I binge. And binge for me is a ball in 12 hours. Then I won’t use for a week or two.
This is interesting and particular to my symptoms.
Trying to cut coke out altogether now but every so often, when I've been put drinking, I make the wrong call..
Have been using for about 5 years pretty regularly now. Have built up quite a tolerance and barely feel much of a high sometimes now. What I am feeling much more is the mental and physical effects to my body...
Most notable and worrying of late is a relatively mild consistent pain between my shoulder blades and mid back.
I'm familiar with lower back issues from poor posture whilst on the sesh for hours, however this is definitely different to that.
I'm about to visit the docs as I'm worried these might be symptoms of developed pancreatic cancer as I've lost weight, am often tired, have some other matching symptoms often associated with cancer in the tail of the pancreas, along with this back pain.
But having read this I'm starting to think it might just all be down to the cocaine...
When using I often get a tight chest and have to stop for a short while. This is the first time I've learned that it causes fluid on the lungs. I've suspected pericarditis too which can also present similar effects and symptoms. I've had a few chesty coughs too whilst binging, which have taken a good few days, up to a week to clear.
I'd be interested in learning more about the effects on the lungs and relation to heart issues too.
All in all its quite clear that cocaine causes ischaemia in various areas and a risk of infarction... there's documents showing partial renal, liver and even spinal infarctions even from patients presenting after cocaine abuse.
The vasoconstriction effect of cocaine and reduced blood flow in general is no doubt a risk to further complications down the line.
I'd appreciate any more information, experience and expertise from anyone. Good to hear what you've seen in and around an ER too.
Most of all I hope I don't have cancer, least of all in the Pancreas, and my symptoms are in fact all related primarily to cocaine abuse, something I think this scare might just put a final end to this phase and I can start building a stronger way forward that prevents reoccurrence and allows me the opportunities to build a better life!
Most of all right now though any more info on the upper / mid back pain in relation to cocaine use and lung inflammation etc and some reassurance to this being the cause not a tumour pressing on nerves...
Cheers
