Clozapine's CNS depressing properties

Hi! I was wondering if you would take CNS depressants (alcohol, opiates, benzos) on top of daily clozapine use - could that cause a possibly dangerous CNS depression? When I take my evening dose of clozapine, it's like being hit with a hammer. Strong sedation.

Mixing depressants is always a risky game.
Clozapines sedation is though antagonization of the histamine receptor, while it will be potent, i believe sedation through this mechanism is one of the safest with regards respiratory complications.
Of you have been taking clozapine for a while and are well tolerated to its effecys then it should be safe to add a SMALL dose of a depressant like benzos.
Id avoid alcohol as its just very unpredictable and causes alot of depressant ODs.
Just please be aware that when it comes to cnd depressants, 1+1 rarely equals 2, it more like 1+1=4.
Start small and go slow.

You have to becareful with any drugs you mix with clozapine due to it's numerous potentially lethal side effects namely it's cardiotoxicity. Clozapine causes drowsiness through it's anti-histaminic and anti-cholinergic effects. I wouldn't mix alcohol with it as alcohol is just not good to mix with any anti-psychotics I've found. Small doses of benzos wouldn't hurt though just don't overshoot your tolerance. Anti-cholinergics add to the depressant effect of opiates quite abit sometimes so i would be careful with that.
