So I'm prescribed 2mg clonazepam, twice a day as needed. I get 60 of them a month. I won't lie, sometimes I over indulge and take 4mg/6mg at a time...but it happens regardless of dose. When the clonazepam first hits me, I feel almost dare I say it, jittery. My leg bounces up and down a lot, like I'm anxious but at the same time...I'm not anxious. I'm truly in that "I don't give a fuck" mood. I mean it works well for my anxiety/social anxiety, and I like the long half-life so it stays with me for most of the day. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced side-effects similar to these?

I get them prescribed from my psychiatrist who also prescribes me my suboxone. He told me in the beginning, that Clonazepam was the only benzodiazepin he would prescribe due to it's lower abuse potential. Which, ironically I find silly since it's easily abuseable just like the rest. I just took 4mg of clonazepam about an hour ago. And now I'm sitting at my computer, and already my legs are bouncing up and down but at the same time, I'm pretty peaceful.

Just wondering if anyone has had any similar side-effects to clonazepam. It doesn't matter if I take 2mg, or if I take 4mg+. Still the same bouncing legs. My doc is a really good doc and he trusts me with my medications. I am one of the only patients he will prescribe a benzo to when also taking suboxone due to the "CNS depressant" side of the mix.. but I'm not sure if I can get em to switch me over to a different benzo. I've been down other medicinal routes as far as anxiety relief goes. I've tried effexor(SNRI), as well as Cymbalta(which supposedly has anxiolytic properties(Not for me...I'll never take that stuff again. Body zaps all day long.) but all that dig was mellow me out, and take away some depression(if I had it) but it didn't do anything for my social anxiety. I've come to the conclusion that a benzodiazepin is the only class of medication that really handles my anxiety the way I want it to be handled.

I've been reading up about Temazepam, and I hear it's quite the benzo. It's shorter acting, sure..but I can also be prescribed to take it more frequently during the day if necessary due to it's shorter half-life/duration of effect. The clonazepam has done well for me, it really helps me not worry so much but this bouncing leg crap is really annoying. The muscle relaxation of the temazepam may be what I'm looking for. Not so much the euphoria(if there is any). Now, considering my doctor trusts me, I'm wondering if he'd write me a script for temazepam instead of the klonopin. I don't know what the dose equivelent would be. 2mg clonazepam = ? in temazepam?

Any similar experiences?

Thanks BL!

PS: I used to be prescribed 1mg xanax footballs before I was put on suboxone, and therefore obviously before I had an opiate addiction beating the snot out of me. Those worked well, but I had much worse retrograde amnesia from the xanax as I have with the klonopin and that just isn't something I want to deal with right now. How about Diazepam? Again, I'm not looking for the most euphoric benzo. I'm looking for something that's a bit more relaxing, not super sedative, and will get rid of this bouncing leg/jitters crap. You know when you're going through opiate withdrawal, and the anxiety hits you, and you sit there bouncing your leg up and down? That's exactly what this is, but it seems to come and go.

So right now, what I am looking at is diazepam, and temazepam. I've heard about ativan, but I read that that stuff really makes you drowsy. The clonazepam will make me drowsy if I take it before going to bed, but during the day...I'm fine in that department. Any help is appreciated.

4mg clonazepam is a lot. All benzos are different and effect everyone differently though.

If you have restless legs you should talk to your doctor about it and see what he says. We're not doctors here and we can't diagnose you.

Benzos can respond paradoxically in some individuals, a family member of mine got deleriously messed on valium to the point of hallucinations. Just start low and change drugs if there are too many side effects.
