Id like to take a pole and see how......

Much Clean time do you have?
What substances you were using?
How long you were using for?
How long were you seeking sobriety before you accomplished it?
How many rehabs did you go thru?
And what worked for you?

And to anyone who is seeking sobriety, please write to us and let us know how long youve been seeking it, and by what means are you using to accomplish that goal?

I started this thread to hopefully show people still using, and seeking that there is hope, and maybe they can PM the people with clean time and they can either answer questions, or help in any way they can. Maybe as they look thru maybe your method intrests them, or maybe you use the same substances...

Love,
Sean

Well I guess Ill start

I have 1 year 3 months clean .
I was using Herion mostly near the end, But Ive used alot of Ecstacy at the beggining, and also crack and coke, but the last 3 years of my addiction was Heroin.
I was using drugs for about 9 years.
I was seeking sobriety for about 5 years, on and off
I went to 3 rehabs, and one of them I went to 3 times.

Well the last rehab I went thru, and I also work there now is Christ based. The last bindge I went on I ended up catching a felony, I lost everything, including my family, I had no where else to turn but God. I guess you can say I hit rock bottom. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Now Im happily married, I have a 6 year old son Im in his life, Its a slow process but its well worth it!!

Love,
Sean

33 years clean and..ahem...partially sober. I still loves me my greygoose and tonics and wine.

I think most people need rock bottom before they change and rock bottom is different for everyone.

Much Clean time do you have?since november 15.2008
What substances you were using?heroin and cocaine (IV for both)
How long you were using for?4 years
How long were you seeking sobriety before you accomplished it? tons of times
How many rehabs did you go thru? six
And what worked for you? Forcing myself to become homeless and sick, just to see how if i continued using what would happen to me. Affter a few days of pan handling and sucking business mens dicks in train stations for maybe $7-$10 I put myself in detox and never used again. Sometimes the worst situations bring the best results.

This view never sits right with me because it suggests to me that you're powerless over your addiction til things really turn to shit and I don't think that's true... Well I hope it's not true :\

But anyway...
I am seeking sobriety...!

Currently have 2 days without using drugs!
Substances are mainly methamphetamine and alcohol, but also include heroin, ketamine, DXM, cocaine, ecstasy... (they're prob the main ones)
Using all of them for 5.5 years now (escept heroin which I started 2 years ago)
I have been seeking sobriety for about 2 years now.
I have been to detox twice but never rehab.
What's worked for me? Unfortunately the only thing that has really worked for me is negative reinforcement - when I feel mentally so shit that I don't want to continue. Unfortunately (?) that feeling never lasts too long. Going to my group helps, as does my counseller.

I am making a strong effort again. This time, I am writing out lots of plans...
I may even try AA (I already have a special group just for Ice users...but the alc is a big prob). I have a new plan - and that is to write out the plan for the next day for the day before, and work out how I will stay clean just for the next day. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Edit - I love this thread idea Seanmi.

clean for 6 months, by that I mean clean of meth- I still drink wine and indulge in the odd pill and pot and had acid last weekend.

I have lapsed on meth a couple of times in that period but it was limited to a small amount. I did not want to continue using, I had nd on going cravings for it. Seems like its just not as attractive as it once was.

Footscrazy. I am very proud of you for having 2 days clean. I remember when even 2 hours was a miracle for me to be clean. Just put your plan into action and you can do anything. Keep in touch and let us know how your journey is going.

Hello fellow bluelighters! :)

My name is Holly(aka Hollywood)and I am an addict! lol

I have a little over 4 months clean time

I was mainly using heroin the last year of my addiction, but I also was addicted to cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, and xtc. I've tried every drug pretty much, except for GHB.

I have used drugs for 16 years(since I was 12 years old,but the hard stuff came around 14 or 15 minus heroin. Heroin came into play the last year and it sucked me in and I fell HARD.

I guess you could say I've been seeking sobriety for the past 3 years. Got a DUI back in '06,had my boyfriend drive me to detox at a hospital a year or so ago after I had a mental breakdown, then this past september i left my apartment and my whole life as an addict and a prostitute behind to come home to my mother and stepfathers house to detox off of heroin wound up being rushed to the E.R. and given a bunch of detox drugs to stablize me after that i was stuck kicking at home for nearly 2 weeks and shortly after i went back to using, then more recently i got sober back in december and i have been clean ever since.

Never went to rehab, just detox once.

Ultimately, suboxone, a LITTLE BIT of NA and AA, staying away from my old friends, and PROBATION HELPS YOU A HELL OF A LOT! YOU DON'T WANT TO GO TO JAIL! lol

Damn UA's!:X

1 year clean off of opiates (mostly heroin and oxy) thanks to suboxone. I was using for about a year. I accomplished sobriety after one unsuccessful attempt, went back to using for about 3 months, then got on suboxone and went to detox. I've been through a couple rehabs, one for coke and another for opiates. And like I said, suboxone has worked for me - it easily could have just saved my life honestly.

I was completely clean until very recently, had about 9 months...which was huge for me, it was the longest I had been clean/sober since I was 10! Anyways I have relapsed on IV opiates and benzos along with some Somas. Other than that I have been clean from Heroin(more because I cant find it atm, than anything else, but none the less it's a good thing) and I have been clean from Crack Cocaine for nearly two years now!=D

Crack was the drug that caused the most damage and devastation in my life, so that is a good thing I haven't gone back....I was actually offered a gram of some good rock the other night and passed it up, which made me proud, even if I am doing Dillies and Oxys.:\

I first came into the rooms of NA when I was 13 or 14 after being caught using cocaine, started drinking straight liquor when I was 10, and started doing blow and OCs when I was 13. Moved up to Crack on my 18th B-day, and then Heroin @ 19. I have went through 10 different rehabs in 5 different states. So far I have found NA to be more effective and more helpful than any rehab, and that good part is that it is free:D

Maybe I will hop back on the wagon soon enough, I hope so at least, I know I can't keep expecting to shoot up and not have any consequences8)

Much Clean time do you have? 27 days
What substances you were using? IV heroin, 3 grams powder per day (3 x 1g shots)
How long you were using for? 5 years
How long were you seeking sobriety before you accomplished it? 1 day
How many rehabs did you go thru? Went to detox, was tapered down on methadone/valium/phenobarbital/soma/clonidine & temazepam...most painless detox of my life
And what worked for you? Currently in rehab, figuring out better coping skills than just being a worthless junkie.

^congratulations man! Thats a big deal! Stick with it, even though I relapsed, being clean has been the best thing I could've ever done for myself. PM me if you ever want to talk, or feel like going back out there. I'm always here for a fellow junkie :D

I have been about two and a half weeks clean, maybe three. But, I don't keep track of time because I think it's discouraging when you haven't been clean very long.

By clean, I mean I am clean of EVERYTHING except for caffeine and cigarettes (and I am cutting down on caffeine, cutting down on cigs later). I don't even drink. Before I quit I was using opiates, adderall, alcohol, benzoes, and almost anything else I could get my hands on. I was a poly-drug addict. Was using for about two years.

I was seeking sobriety on and off for a year, but sometimes I didn't want to be sober at all. I did want to be sober very recently, though, so... I just quit. I didn't go through any rehabs - I think anyone can do it on their own if they have the motivation. Of course I may have relapses for a day or so at some point, but I don't think I need meetings or rehabs to keep me on track. Group therapy doesn't work for me, it's kind of creepy to me actually. What worked for me was just having the motivation to stay clean, and also distancing myself from certain friends (and moving into my own apartment, living by myself).

I have very strong willpower. I have watched people do lines right in front of me, even have had them offer drugs to me or free drinks, and I refused. MOTIVATION! I don't know if I believe in god but I believe I have some higher self looking out for me.

hey ave been clean just ova 3 weeks now on d naltrextone programe its my second implant i"ve been using herion 4 over 7 years and this seems to be the only thing that works.Only down side is d the deep deepression it causes!!!!!! but hey its easy to look at the neg at least i"m not scamming 4 a fix !

Cocaine: About a year.
Heroin: 16 months except for a relapse 2 months ago that nearly killed me.
Benzos: 2 weeks. But I'm expecting a gram of pure Diaz any day now.
Cannabis: a week. Way too fucking long.
Alcohol: 3 days or so. But who the fuck likes alcohol? Blech.
Tobacco: 2 weeks. I refuse to pay double for that filthy habit cuz of the new tax.

Much Clean time do you have?
One month.
What substances you were using?
Amphetamines
How long you were using for?
3 years
How long were you seeking sobriety before you accomplished it?
I wasn't. Circumstances forced abstinence, due to poor physical/mental health & supply problems.
How many rehabs did you go thru?
None.
And what worked for you?
Hard to say. I have been off it for most of this year, and half of last. Although I have been good with not falling to it very much, and I don't want speed, I don't feel I am coping very well with out it, because the social anxiety, depression, and apathy have, at times, made me feel my life has come to a standstill.

I'm still off the stuff though, so can't complain at my efforts.

Congradulations everyone for the awsome job you guys are doing. Everyone from 2 days to 30 years. Every sucess started with a plan. And even the ones with 30 years clean, once only had 2 days. You have to start somewhere and have a desire!

Theres alot of tools out there you just have to search a little bit to find them. There are people out there who care about you and are willing to help. Use the internet and call people like catholic social services and orginazations like that and alot of them are willing to send you to rehab for free.

I know here in Michigan, Oakland county, I went to a place called P.A.C.E and oakland county paid for me to go to treatment and it costed over 20,000 dollars. There are resources out there you just have to find them!!

Well I hope you all have a great week and be safe,

Love,
Sean

^

you should add them to the treatment services and help line.

there was a similar thread running a while back, and eventually some of us would stay sober for 24 hours at least if the other would, and then sober monday and wednesdays came into play.

some people stayed for greater lengths of time, but most of us didnt, i think having days here and there is good in a way to help break the initial shock and fear of sobriety. also, you cant tell yourself you cant make it even a day, because you have and usually its not that bad at the end of it.

hehe, well, to be honest I was being facetious. I said 33 years because I *am* 33. LOL So, my funny didn't go over too well.

I'm glad I never got into drugs because I'm too stubborn to quit. I liken it to alcohol - I enjoy it, so I don't see myself quitting.

Just wanted to clear that up, since I sound like some kind of success and I'm not. :| Bad joke on my part.

Much Clean time do you have?
3 and half years
What substances you were using?
meth
How long you were using for?
3 years, maybe longer
How long were you seeking sobriety before you accomplished it?
Mentally, awhile, but I never put it down until I quit
How many rehabs did you go thru?
One
And what worked for you?
Went to rehab, it helped, did what they told me cause my best decisions has messed me up pretty bad. then i did some AA (didn't like NA). I worked, and I slept a whole lot. Life was pretty bleak for a while, my head not right, couldn't concentrate, but I see the difference now. Still sometimes feel like abusing meth took away my ability to be ecstatic, life is a little grey, but it gets better.
