Tell me there's a plethora of you out there who haven't forgotten the great Disney cartoons of the past? I'm pretty serious about the classic part... I don't want to see anything like "Goof Troop" in here. So yeah, lets reminisce the "good old days" of animated cartoons.
Mickey's Trailer (1938)
Probably my favorite Disney short. It's well-crafted, funny and portrays all the characters in their prime.
The Whale Who Wanted To Sing At the Met (1946)
Found in the collaborative film "Make Mine Music," Willie the Whale is the most heart-warming Disney character I can think of. To jog some of your memories, it's about a Sperm Whale with incredible musical talent and his dreams of singing Grand Opera. But short-sighted impressario, Tetti-Tatti, believes that the whale has simply swallowed an opera singer, and chases him with a harpoon.
Peter and the Wolf (1946)
Also on the "Make Mine Music" movie was this short, which is essentially the same story as Prokofiev's. I don't think it was well-received but I really enjoyed it.
I'm Blue For You (Boo-Boo-Boo-Boo) (1962)
I'm not sure if you'd call this a short or what but it was on "A Symposium on Popular Songs." It was basically just some really ragged animation set to Skip Ferrell's song "I'm Blue For You (Boo-Boo-Boo-Boo)". I think what was so funny was the female screams that they put in every time Ferrell sang "boo-boo-boo-boo". My sister and I still sing it when we're together.
Clock Cleaners (1937)
This film follows the three greats on their various issues with the stubborn clock.
Mickey and the Beanstalk (1947)
Apparently this was in the film "Fun and Fancy Free" (adorable title). Obviously, Mickey plays the role of "Jack" and finds himself (along with Donald and Goofy) in a lot of trouble.
I also had the book
Chicken Little (1943)
I know this is a parable for Nazi philosophy but I still love this short... though it may be disturbing.
I have more but I'll leave "The Three Caballeros" to atlas....
