I am a severe chronic pain sufferer with several in curable life limiting conditions.
I am 43 yrs. and have virtually un-manageable diabetes II
I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa , an incurable cyst condition which manifests in the apocrine regions (groin, scrotum, arm pits, under breasts with females)
these cysts can literally be so aggressive that they grow from a grackle dot to a baseball or bigger within 24-48 hours easily causing extreme debilitating pain of indescribable levels, especially when on scrotum or in groin, only imagine that sort of stretching and pressure in such sensitive area, as a male...HORRIBLE!
I haven't stopped with multiple simultaneous active areas in groin region for 4 years now as remission does occur, but hasn't done so for me yet so I'm having to wash and change up to six times daily due to the daily loss of 200-500ml of blood and puss...disgusting hell. I was seen by top specialists in Melbourne's St Vincent's Hospital new HS research clinic and told that I had the worst case they have ever seen. I also have cardiac artery disease have had one stent and one triple bypass open heart surgery, 26 excision surgeries for huge HS cysts that wouldn't pop. Due to many medical problems, my diabetes is almost impossible to control and therefore I have developed ALL FOUR MAIN TYPES OF NEUROPATHY consisting of nearly 60 symptoms LITERALLY! Also suffering chronic fibromyalgia and all teeth crumbling...all these together render me totally disabled, debilitated and in daily living hell of severe pain therefore my GP has had me on the same permit for opiate pain killers for 4 years, a large dose (cancer dose) for several reasons being that I'm opiate resistant to begin with , in fact resistant to many drugs so if 2 panadiene forte for example help most it takes 6 for me to even get close to that relief, probably part of this reason other that the fact that 5-7% of adult males are resistant to opiates is that I'm of a large stature as well. Also the fact that even the large dose I've been on only relives about 30% of my pain just barely enough to make it bearable and give me a miniscule quality of life, I basically almost cannot even move at all without the relief of those painkillers and for the last 4 years, every six months that the health dept asks for another doctor or specialist other than my GP to sign off on agreeance with my subsequent pain management , it has never been an issue due to the immense amount of 24/7 pain Im in and the many conditions I have with so so many symptoms, the fact that things are only worsening and are not curable as well. Four yrs no problem then BANG suddenly they want review to be done by pain specialist and this sadistic idiot just says well I agree that you suffer all these things and that you have no quality of life and are in chronic debilitating pain but since you don't have cancer I wish to lower your dose to less than half what your on! this is insane....I asked him does he agree that there are non cancer conditions as painful or more painful than some cancers and he said of course but im concerned with high risk factors at your dosage....DUH...if I was at high risk it would have damn well shown its ugly head by now....four years with absolutely zero incident! what do the legitimate truly suffering NON recreational pain sufferers in this godforsaken bloody Melbourne Victoria Australia have to do to maintain the right to some tiny bit of quality of life and relief when the pain they suffer is worse than a gunshot from a large calibre....I can truly say this because I have been shot by a 357 magnum as a law enforcement officer in the states and believe it or not, shot me any day cause the pain I put up with daily is many times worse............sincerely distraught and exhausted chronic pain victim being stigmatised due to drug seekers for recreational use....HOW BLOODY UNFAIR !!

Hey there and welcome to bluelight. I'm so sorry to hear about all your medical issues and pain. I think you will find there are a lot of people here that have some experience in that category. Though I by no means have the extent of conditions that you do, I too suffer from pain.
I am in the US so I know next to nothing about medical care in your country but we have just been talking about this subject in a post in the forum Drugs in the Media. The thread is called "some doctors and the DEA want to limit opiate/opioid subscriptions to no more than 90 days". We are all facing hard time in regards to our pain management and I can't imagine the lack of quality of life that I and so many others will have if the changes that some are trying to effect come to pass.

I'm sure you will get some insight here from many that are from Australia. But any time that you just need to vent please feel free to message me or reply on this thread. I have bitched so much about this topic tonight on the other thread that I am too tired to go again. Hope you have an ok day? (Is 5 am here) and I will check back later to see how you are.
