Global Politics China Discussion

This is complete nonsense.

This whole concept that trump is better if your concern is China is extremely dubious.

You know what we need to confront China? Allies. That thing trump spent years dismantling.

It's the same as the assertion that Bidens got dementia. It's not supported by any real evidence, and in fact what evidence exists... once you stop counting out of context 5 second long clips put together by youtube loudmouths as "evidence", suggests the opposite. The right just keeps saying it hoping if they keep repeating it it'll be more believable.
How's your media in Australia doing tho? Not owned by the chinese? No politicians being bribed by the CCP?
Why you always suggest your comments like you're american?

Like most CEP discussions, it started with me reading an interesting article that seemed legit:

Sounds like China is really pissed @ Taiwan and the USA. They claim that Taiwan belongs to China, and the USA believes that Taiwan is their own country, while China is flexing their military strength to provoke.

What do you think? Do you think that this will be the next 'big conflict'?
Will be an interesting ride.
The peaceful rise is over a war will happen . The good news china has conflicts with all its neighbors just counting the quad which is forming between japan india the us and Australia many other nations will join .

I would say some form of violent conflict is likely yes. But I think it's foolish to act like it's a certainty. The future is simply too hard to predict. There's always variables we are not seeing. Unknown unknowns and the like.

Yeah I'm interested in evidence that Biden is "in the pocket of China" as many conservatives claim. People say it a lot but talk is cheap. If someone has evidence, I am legitimately interested in it.

I agree, our problems are definitely of our own making. But I also have little doubt that China and Russia are eyeing us in our doddering state and working their opportunities to ensure that they emerge ahead of us. America does the same thing, it's not that we don't deserve it, it's that I'm American and I would prefer that we don't roll over and let it happen. I am wary of China, especially, given what they're doing to a portion of their own population (the Uighers).
Exactly this me as American knows the games we played but rather US hegemony then china whos people are like slaves cant speak their mind and a little while ago choosing how they bred which caused a problem of not enough girls and the uighers .

My media? LOL.
You guessed where I'm from pretty fucking badly.
We have nationalized media in our country.

Fair point I did. I based that on the fact that majority (probably 90+) percent of bluelighters are either from the United States, the UK or Australia.

The Murdoch media empire stems deep accross all three of those (and a few others)

I apologise for assuming that. Nationalized media...hmm.. You have me curious.

As keen as I am NOT to become the The United Republic of Australiasia anytime soon, I can’t help but think that the Chinese will probably make better world leaders than America has.
They’re smart, they rule with a cool head, every decision is a measured one and they figured out how to make the most populated country in the world one of the richest while the rest of us was talking recessions and depressions.
It’s still an improvement 🤷🏻‍♀️

I tend to agree with this. I extremely disagree with Chinese communism in all its manifestations, but having lived and worked amongst diasporic Chinese for many years I can honestly say I generally prefer them as the future of Australia than all of the alternatives. They value they three things I think are most important: family, education, prosperity. Unlike almost all others immigrant groups and many many Australians they don’t expect the government to do everything for you. They also assimilate into the general culture (but with their values intact) within 2 generations.

In 20 years time I expect that the Australian upper-middle class will be 60-70 % ethnic Chinese.

I despise this idea. I think it's beyond foolish.

I would much rather Australia and America strengthen our already very strong ties. Along with the other five eyes members and well, all the democratic countries of the west.

But, I'm an Australian-American dual citizen so it probably shouldn't be surprising that I favor strengthening those ties rather than dividing them.

Australia will never turn its back on the States in favour of China, they own our asses way more than the Chinese ever have.
I was thinking more in terms of the financial collapse I think America is soon to face and how that would diminish their overall power on a global scale.
By the same token, Australia will never allow Chinese rule here either, ridiculous fear mongering myth.

Just to clarify, I agree that the Chinese are not stupid. They've been very smart, smarter than us. Between their being smart and our being idiots they're on the edge of becoming indisputably the next world power, assuming you don't take the view that they already have. And rather than fight it we have practically let it happen.

China's not dumb, they're just.. Evil ;P.
But even if they weren't, I know where my loyalties lie. I'm never gonna be in favor of China for any thing over the US.

All china needs is democracy and a move away from their diactorship and move towards human rights they would then be the greatest country ever on earth if they managed a few things.

Well America would be the greatest country on earth if we weren't so terrified of anything socialist and didn't have a completely worthless education system.

Unfortunately that's almost as unlikely as China becoming democratic.

Dictatorships don't tend to become democracies without a fight.

I'll admit though part of my sentiments are blind nationalism. All things being equal I'd still want America to lead the world. And if not America, one of the other western English speaking countries that are extremely like America.

What frustrates me is we had so much potential. But we squandered it.
