I have got to have the scrawniest looking legs in the world. I definitely lack the motivation to work them, but I still try to work my legs at least 2x a week. No matter how hard I go it seems like I get in return is stiff legs and a sore ass. I cannot dead lift, or squat so my options slimmed.

Does anybody else have a very unproportional upper 2 lower body? If you don't please let us know of some leg/glute exercises that are somewhat enjoyable. Honestly the shit's embarrassing when your girlfriend has better looking legs then you :X

Run stairs. Stair climbing exercise programs are very effective.

Indeed, but I've got such a fast metabolism, I worry that cardio exercise would only make me smaller? I already have to eat around 3200 cals for maintenance, wouldn't running stairs burn a shit ton of calories? Even more then running, which I cannot do unless I eat 24/7.

This is why calf implants are popular. Most people with chicken legs can't do anything about it besides get calf implants. You're genetically fucked forever (but c'mon, chicken legs aren't really that bad). I've been doing calf lifts for 15 years. I've gained 35 pounds of mostly muscle everywhere else since then but my calves don't look any different than when I started, they're just stronger.

^^ fucked for life isn't exactly what I was hopping to hear, but in regards silicone; fakes tits are incredibly better then naturals...You think you could make a small donation towards my nip-tuck operation, I'll even let you get a lil squeeze lmfao

Heh. I don't mean to be so deterministic about it, but really it's probably healthier to resolve yourself to skinny legs than to give you unrealistic hopes of building them up. I just know I've heard that for many people calves especially have a reputation for being unresponsive and that nothing I've done in 15 years has made them get bigger while every other muscle group has. I keep doing calf exercises, but it's only for strength. It may be technically possible to get them bigger, but if two times a week and varying your workout does nothing at all then you've got to ask yourself if you really care enough to do the ridiculous training it would take to make a difference that isn't even very noticeable just for the sake of vanity. Work on some jokes about your skinny legs. That will do more to change people's perceptions of you than nice calves.

you're on something stupid there dude.

my leg workout like dissss

4-5 warm up sets of squat

one heavy ass set of 5-10
one drop set (one plate off each side) of 20-30

calf raises with the dropset weight (standing BB) set of 20
leg extension set of 20

Do that every 3 days. With another day in there for chest/shoulders/back and a full rest day. On chest/shoulder/back day (after the leg day) do hill sprints (feed that hill sprints with 100g maltodextrin).

Might want to be pounding 4k calories and be on some AAS ;)

ps00donym,

you have been lifting from 15 years...you squat started out lets say 135lb. Then you got it up to 405 after 4 years (conservative!). Now you been maintaining at 405lb for 11 year. You mean your calves didnt go up with that big of a jump in your squat???

Heh. No. My the muscles didn't grow anymore and my joints started to hurt, so I peaked where I was. What is this idea about endlessly getting stronger? A joke? I also do machine squats to avoid injuring myself so I have no idea what I actually squat. I'm not a body builder, I just like lifting weights to maintain my fitness and I've done so long enough, and I've seen all other muscle groups grow enough, to know the amount of effort I'd need to put in to lifting to get substantially larger calves is unrealistic.

This article explains some of the reasons why calves are difficult to build: in short: less nerve endings, some use them less than other leg muscles when they walk due to their bodies distribution of weight and walking style, and they're further away from the heart. That's for everybody, then some people have genetic reasons on top of that that make them more difficult to build. I guess the fact that I don't have built up calves makes me stupid. Here I thought giving enough of a shit to do the work to make my calves look good would be stupid.

Here's another article with more practical advise. Seriously though, with all your exercising you've never heard of this issue with the calves, Matsuo? I mean the guy says he lacks motivation to work on his legs in the post. Do you really think barking the equivalent of "eat more, go harder" is realistic advice for him?

squats and hacksquats will make your legs grow...just play around with the weights and reps...for exxample if you arent feeling strong on squat day just lower the weight and increase the reps...a squat day for me resembles this below"

1st set- 15 reps of 135
2nd set-12 reps of 185
3rd set- 10 reps of 205
4th set- 8 reps of 225
5th set- 25 reps of 135!!!!

This is what BEGINS for leg workout

maybe not, I've come to realize there are few that are so passionate about pounding their body in the squat rack as I am.

Your use of machine squats is a problem imo. Im not saying you cant hypertrophy your legs with machine exercises, but barbell squat is always the king for mass building (along with deadlifts which also will hypertrophy legs/calves).

Some people have stubborn calves...I dont want to insult these people by saying eat more train harder like some dogmatic asshole.

There are drug therapies. I would look to a combination of MCT oil injections (3-4ml/day) to stretch faschia as well as 10ug injections of IGF-des (a shortened version of IGF) every few hours for a few months.

thats cool man! You will grow with that just add weight add weight every workout!

my last leg workout

1x10xbar
1x10x135
1x5x225
1x5x295
1x7x335
1x22x245
calf raise 20 reps with 245
leg extension w/ stack 19 reps

extreme quad stretch 60 seconds

^Yeah, I injured my left knee in my early twenties. It's fine now but if I really push it it starts to get annoying so it limits my leg workouts. I just don't think the OP sounds like an "I'll do anything" type of person (injecting shit, spending way more time in the gym), and so, if he's like me and he has the typical as well as the genetic hurtles to pass in order to get larger calves (the part that shows i.e. what he seems to care about), he's not likely to exert the effort he needs to in order to change them. So I gave him non-workout related advice.

yeah perhaps he needs your advice more than mine.

honestly the thing that really caused me to grow wass progressive overload with barbell training in combination with 3.6-4k calories a day (500-600g carbs), and anabolic drug therapy in combination with spikes of growth on workout days (3-5iu).

My legs are a strong point

How did I attain this?

I put work in....I never miss a leg workout and squats and deadlifts are my core exercises

Why can't you squat? What are your reasons for not squatting?

hmmm... just use them alot, I have a few friends who never lift but have some solid legs (bigger calves than mine but a bit smaller quads) and they say it's all from running/soccer... lol pumping up the calves does nothing compared to just using them hard every day.

weighted walking/farmers walks can really make you feel more stable once you can comfortably walk around with some decently heavy weight and it is a very safe exercise, you don't do much odd movement, just walk around with weights in each hand.

why can't you squat? even doing squats without weights will give you a good "puff" to the thighs

as for calves... I've read alot on how they are just used to carrying your bodyweight all day and therefore can be trained quite frequenctly..any time those calves feel good just give them a 3 set standing calf raise session... but quite frequently, just train for a pump, let them be until they feel good again then pump them up again... it's a slow process but as always you will level up, your individual muscle groups will gain some "personality" if you just keep thinking of them and using them extra all the time. my chest used to be bent out of shape but after years of arbitrary and random puffing out and flexing, my posture is pretty solid.

Gonna be hard without squats. I'm sure your legs have grown over time though. Squats and calf raises work for me but I am newish...

I ran into my sisters fiance who is a pretty big dude, he came up to me surprised and said "You workout your legs???" I said yeah of course, you have too. He told me that he had only done legs once.
