CEPS Well Hung Parliament (CEPS Social/Off Topic)

Minimum wage earner?

No that's 'wage slave". Theres a word for pretty much everything - "schadenfreude", feel pleasure at somebody else's pain; "defenestrate", to throw out of a window; "sesquipadalian", long and polysyllabalic; etc.

And yeah swillow, propaganda is about all they do, that and destroy society.

just got back from the seattle protest. one of the biggest ive seen in seattle since i've been living here.

MOVED mod stuff → mod thread. everyone should be aware that if your thread is edited or closed or whatever and you don't like it there is a definitive way to deal with this by first contacting the moderatior and the senior moderator, not bitching about it in public. the next one to break with this procedure can expect an infraction.

It is interesting to see that a movie being made about the Armenian genocide is being made. As far as I can tell from trailers for it, The Promise, which have been showing up on my YouTube ads, which shows the robots are pretty clever; I love period films/TV shows and especially am interested in World War I, it's precursors and aftermath, etc. more than anything else in history. This one should be fairly controversial, as I believe the Turkish government still refuses even to admit that war crimes occurred (even after this time, imagine the contrast between things like the ICTY being setup within a few years, or, even faster; the Nuremberg trials faster than that, but those were fairly theatrical improvised ius victoris but by the time of ICTY, 80-90 years, there was a whole formalized system for their prosecution, although it remains highly political, as it is in Turkey, searching for it on their Internet will endear their security services to you as much as searching for Tianemmen Square or Falon Gong in China.)

I offer my sincerest apology to alasdairm, whom I offended/mocked in a post. It is never acceptable to mock peers and even less acceptable to offend or mock an administrator of the very home that has given me so much in the way of friends, lovers, information, amusement, and so much more. I bite the hand that feeds me and I regret it.

Ala, I am a smart ass sarcastic son of my mother and I regret causing a division between us. I hope you know I am only doing this in public because I do not know of any other way to show you I regret the negative sentiments that now exist between us. I will be far more mindful of the words I use in this forum.

All I can do is throw my cards on the table and hope you know I am sorry.

Sincerely

Morninggloryseed

I fucked up and closed it by mistake. It's open again now.
I need to stop posting on my phone, it's far too easy to check the "close thread" box without meaning to (for stoned morons like me) ;)

I don't think I'm ever not stoned when I get on BL :| except maybe in the mornings before work for a few minutes.

I just want to say thank you to the posters that are willing to use their time to push back against the irrational and hysterical little alt-right germs on here.

I can't imagine a Bluelight forum overrun with these kinds of hateful, unabalanced people. It's an unsettling thought, and without you guys, these snivelling cowards would find a safe space here to spread their ridiculous, toxic nonsense and misinformation from behind their screens.

I deal with the very few that I come across in real life, but I just don't have the patience or resilience to deal with them online. This sort of shit is enraging and depressing.

So again, thanks to those of you who take the time to point out their fucked up bullshit...over and over and over. It must feel like a wasted effort a lot of the time, but there are many readers like myself who appreciate your posts and what you're doing here.

I recall a time where it was over run by christian fundamentalists. Its a better forum nowaday so people who are just wanting a conversation can join in rather than conversion.

Where and when did this term alt-right come from?It almost sounds like alright, which I don't really think these alt-right people really are, especially when they descend on a place like we saw recently, can't believe anyone can take something like the KKK seriously, those pointy hats for a start, what was that film with Dan Ackroyd where they had pointy heads?Thats what I think of when I see the KKK parading around, just plain dumb, need to go to a rave and get on one and maybe they'll chill out a bit and cease all the daft hate.

I guess it means 'alternative right', as in, an alternative the the traditional GOP standards of Christian/moral fundamentalism. Note that alt-right views do not line up with current GOP policies.
