CEPS Well Hung Parliament (CEPS Social/Off Topic)

None of the threads on the front page of CE+P interest me in the slightest except for the NSA thread and the topic has been wrung dry already because pretty much everyone agrees for once. No one is even talking about the immigration bill.

Maybe im just becoming apathetic.

No one is even talking about the immigration bill.

There won't be a real immigration bill passed until after the 2020 census, when the gerrymandering of the 2010 census can be undone. Until then, the House will be a Tea Party stronghold.

we'll see

the senate is putting together a bi-partisan group to try to pressure republican members of the house in majority white districts to vote for the bill

not saying it will work, but maybe that pressure+ the reality that it is will be a very good thing could turn enough votes to make it happen. If republicans are seen as the party that blocked immigration reform they will get slaughtered in the 2016 presidential election

^any Republican congressman who votes for an immigration bill palatable to Democrats is likely to be primaried by some Tea Party goober and lose his seat.

Yep, that is the biggest hurdle for immigration reform (or at least any type of reform that grants amnesty to illegals)

However, not all republicans are tea partiers, and there are still a good amount of dems in the house. Like I said before there are many forces working towards immigration reform. I havent given up hope yet.

Job interview tomorrow. Pays even better than my current position with better benefits and job security if I get hired.

Wish me luck.

I got a callback about that job toady! Im one of ten finalists for a couple positions, 2nd interview is on thursday.

If I get it ill be moving by myself to a new city in NorCal really far away from anyone that I know. Its kind of a scary thought, and it will probably be hard at first, but I think im ready for something new. It starts at about 45k a year with full benefits. The cost of living in the town is also pretty low, so as a single guy ill have more money than I know what to do with.
