Don't have the answer. But people will get a hold of guns whether they are legal or not. Just like drugs. I can tell you this, if I needed to buy a gun illegally, I can do it within minutes (not counting driving time). I know of SEVERAL places were I could (including online).

You can ban all the guns in the world, but people will still be able to buy them.

Ive responded to more fatality crashes due to intoxicated driving (killing pedestrians or other drivers), than I have with gun-related murders (and I go to 1 at least once a week). Last night I had a head-on collision that killed 3 people because a drunk driver fell asleep at the wheel (guess who didn't die? The drunk driver).

Vehicular homicide is more of a problem than gun-related murders. (roughly half of the gun-related killings are suicides, not person to person)

I think this ^^ is more of a problem.
