Yeah some of us (ahem me) sort of deviated from that guideline just above, so no worries. :)

In response to the lady holding the sign:

^That goes to a dark place. I like that. :)

^ i know we're not supposed to comment on memes but that is funny. sadly, the reason it's funny is utterly tragic :\

alasdair

Ali, you can comment on memes . . . but I think its a given that we want a meme thread to have more memes than discussion.

Its hard to make a clear 'rule' on this tbh so I apologise if this is confusing to anyone. :\

@ Shadowmeister: No tax breakes in Europe? How do you explain that Apple, Amazon, Starbucks or the like pay only ridiculously low taxes? Neoliberalist ideas are spreading everywhere, the situation here is just not as crooked as in the US

^ I don't think many classify it that way. Most including me see them as similar to the US government only with a more open embrace of certain socialist ideals. I mean, I guess it depends in what context you apply the word socialism. In an economic sense, in a political sense, specifically related to Marxism, etc...

Most in the US at least, when making comparisons to certain European countries, use the word in a very general way.

Thanks for the reply & trying to help clear that up.

Stolen, this made me laugh way too much.
I'm going to stick this upon my Facebook, I bet I'll be banned again for another 30 days right after sticking it up though. I've just got over a ban for posting up a Youtube video of Farfour the Hamas mouse.

Oh shit he might be, that's a good guess.

The millenial OD one hits close to home but got a wry and horrible chuckle out of me regardless...

^ the kind where the father has to work long and irregular hours at the shipyard, and the mother needs the only car they can afford for her jobs, taking care of their children, etc.

While it is a meme, and by definition may not address reality, it does point out they waited for him to come home and when he didn't show they went and picked him up. Why did they not pick him up to begin with? That is, if we are taking it literally.

i just don't get it, tlb...

all the republican men were at the same address - they were instructed where to be so how is this accurate or funny? were they instructed to wear white or did they choose to wear white to honor women's suffrage?

a 'meme' like this is just trying to create an issue where there is none.
