CE&P social thread: why do the people I disagree with hate freedom so much?

Anybody that dares to speak in a direct and forceful manner runs the risk of being considered a "lunatic" in our emotionally fragile political culture. At least in the British parliament they have some balls and regularly rib the living shit out of each other. Here in America, when you see the senate or house, you see men and women speaking quietly while looking down. The only emotion that is acceptable is melancholy. It's okay for grown men like John Boner R-OH to cry like unbalnced hormonal teenagers, but someone with some gusto who speaks their mind is labelled "insane" or "crude" when in fact their ideas are quite eloquent due to the fact they have some validity in reality. There is no such thing as an eloquent or respectful lie.

It's truly sad to see how Republicans duck for cover under "terms of gentility" when somebody aggressively stands up to their filth.
I try to have some integrity and judge the content, not the presentation. I saw no difference between the raging Nicaraguan Marine and any other of the old teabags standing around. Simply hiding your contempt for humanity and your sheer idiocy under false pretenses of cordiality wins no points. It is interesting to see how guys like Bardo and bmxxx are retreating to the safety of such pretenses because they both lack the cleverness and character to show a little gusto.

They say "He who controls the language, controls the debate" and trying to dismiss someone's valid points simply based on how they deliver them is the coward's way out.

What I am curious about is why this guy felt so strongly about it as to yell like that. The content of his statements were bunk, but I suspect he lived under an oppressive style of socialism in nicaragua, and he was a victim of social engineering.

I don't agree with bmxxx's politics, but at least he maintains a respectable level of basic human decency, instead of resorting to playground insults and butthurt temper tantrums. Grow the fuck up, MFR.

There was a study done recently ranking American States from most to least healthy. As the pic indicates it takes things like lazyness, smoking, obesity ect into account. Yellow is healthy, light blue is in between and dark blue is unhealthy.

specifically, of the 19 dark blue (unhealthy) states, 14 went for romney. that's 74%.

that's a naive thing to consider noteworthy. I could have labeled the health chart with just as much accuracy as the study did. The healthy/unhealthy areas of the nation have been consistent. The New England area and most of the north has always been regarded as a healthier place to live than the 'deep south' area that pyramids toward and consumes Michigan. The electoral college map is just piece of shit representation of what mainstream party decided to get up and claim majority within a particular state. They both look exactly how I'd expect them to look for wholly different reasons. Not one noteworthy similarity.

Really?

Other than Michigan, Utah, Arizona and Florida (which Went to Obama by the slimmest of margins) the only states that break the correlation are 3 and 4 electoral vote states with very little population, and one would assume a high % of the population working in some sort of physical labor that is typical of less developed areas, leading them to a higher overall level of physical fitness.

And the North East is consistently liberal and the south is consistently conservative. Unless youre saying that geograpical location somehow effects smoking habits, sedentry lifestyle, obesity ect then I cant see how you can logically disagree. The study also indicates that the most healthy states are in the liberal heartland.

Also noteworthy is that the least healthy states are the ones that seem to be most opposed to obamacare.

It is not. neither the north east or the south. 1940 electoral college Allow me to be more clear. I could have detailed the health chart for the native american settlers. without any regard for the decisions of the people living there, one could have assumed that the chart would appear that way based solely on how generally healthy that geographic area is and has always been.

So your way to refute my argument is to cite 1940's electoral results and native american settlers........
