With many years of "good working relations" with various local cuntstabularies, I'd have to say I mostly agree with that US leaflet and more or less all of it would apply here. I'd be wary of being overly evasive-sounding which can be how it comes over if you go in for banging on about your rights too heavily straight off (as seems to be the case in most - if not all - the PooToob vids I've seen of people here and in the US making a point of exercising their rights and very clearly winding the lil piggies up immensely which is only gonna get you noted as being a "trouble maker" - especially for those that live in smaller towns and rural areas). I find best approach is simply to be polite and respectful - as you would be with any other person really. I've never had trouble with police (aside from the odd overzealous young fella upon first meeting which generally results in an apology from a senior officer later on) and I'm fairly sure I've received considerably better treatment than folks I know who are cocky or belligerent. There's really no need for any of that - certainly not to their face or within earshot and doubly so if you plan on drinking the coffee or eating the food offered in the cells
Only thing on that leaflet that did stand out as being quite different here was the breathalyser thing. Apparently over there you can refuse but it results in automatically having your license suspended whereas over here you can be compelled to have a blood test (I think you can refuse that too actually but they certainly make it seem like being compelled). I don't think there's an automatic licence suspension but I think there is a crime of failing to provide a specimen which you can be charged with. Frankly, if you know you're gonna fail a breathalyser you've got no rightful bizniz trying to get out of it anyway.
