Hi y'all-

Next week I am having carpal tunnel release surgery. Has anyone had this and did it work? And how was the pain after?

Right now I take roxis 6 times a day for my back (it is on bad shape). Also, in a few minute here I am going to go pick up a script for dilaudid 4 mg ( I take this for migraine)

I know after the surgery I will probably get the standard perc 5/325 or maybe even 10 if I tell him I have a tolerance.

But now I am worried because a lady in line at the store told me how painful hers was....does anyone have any thoughts about the best mixture of what I have for purely pain control purposes?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place...

It is very hard for us to say. People's response to the painkilling aspect of opiates seems to vary wildly! I would discuss it with your doctor - explain what you are on (won't be an awkward chat seeing as you are legitimately scripted them!) and see what they say. I can't imagine they'd give you something without taking into account your tolerance. Ask about anti-inflammatories/NSAIDs too as this will help take the swelling down and therefore ease the pain after your surgery. You can buy some OTC (ibuprofen) but you can get stronger ones scripted (nb not suitable for people with gastric ulcers, kidney disease or severe asthma..)

Good luck! I have no personal experience I am afraid, but I am sure your doctor can help you with your pain control :)

roxi's + dillies + percs? i think you should be fine. with aleve/ibuprofen plus the other powerful opiates you have, i dont think you will be in too much pain, if any at all. i suggest stocking up on some good movies/reruns of your favorite sit-com or TV show, get some good munchies, and sink into your favorite couch/bed and rest for a couple days after the surgery. after a some days of some quality resting time along with pain meds you should be back to normal, or even better than normal!
if your doctors are recommend the surgery it is probably because it will help you feel better in the future and hopefully reduce the amount of pain you feel...

good luck! you'll be fine :) !

Talk to your dr about post operation pain relief. None of us can speculate about what kind of pain meds you will get. The best you can do is talk to your doctor.

You are legally entitled to proper pain relief. Good luck.
