Career advice needed. I'm 43 so I think I'm too old to do anything for a Career. I'd like to either go into Acting or go into the Medical field. Which one do you think would be more suited for me ?

first of all, i don't think 43 is too old to start over. i know people (a medical doctor included, though that person works in science, not with patients) who started over at around that age.

i can't say much about your acting talent, though apparently you like to entertain people. have you done acting before?

what is obvious here in the forum is your interest in (bio)chemisty and i guess pharmacology, too. there are several careers in those areas that don't take a decade of study. maybe staring with some associate degree, and then see where that takes you. step by step.

I really like welding but it's not for everyone, ever gave it a thought or pipe fitting, boiler making, electric or hc/vac ?

I retrained as a chef in my mid-20s after getting sick of being a bartender and got my bachelors degree in my early-30s after getting sick of being a chef. I think you can change things up with your career and education at any time in your life really.

When I first started college to redo my secondary school exams and start my access course there were people in the group in their 50s and 60s as well as people juggling kids and full time jobs while studying so it's definitely possible at any time in your life. Never too late.

Acting seems pretty hard to get into at the best of times. I read an article this morning which said fewer than 2% of working actors in the UK make a living wage so there's that to consider. If you're really passionate about it then maybe money isn't an object. You could also look into acting adjacent things like finding a job at a theater to get you some exposure to the industry.

Medicine probably means college right? That's always possible but it can be expensive and getting a degree usually takes 4 years so you want to make sure you're going to be getting out what you put in before committing to it.

Being able to cook professionally has come in handy. There's always someone looking for a chef at short notice.

Unless you have connections, or are extremely talented, acting is a real long shot. If you're prepared to wear the dress and suck some dick then it might shorten the road, perhaps.

The medical field is pretty big I suppose - I assume you're American so someone else here is better suited to answer that than me. I think about it hard though, because in my lifetime I remember people wanting to be pharmacists because it paid big and now people are complaining it wasn't what was promised. I don't know.
