Carding in Amsterdam?

How common is it for coffee shops to ask for ID? I'll be there this summer, and I want to know if I can go into the shops personally.

Depends how young you look.. if you are close to 18, or an older looking 16, you should be fine I think.. they are very laid back places.. you may have to get someone over 18 to buy your gear though.

If you don't want to get kicked out, i suggest you support them and buy a coke every few hours or whatever.

i think if you have facial hair and are taller, then you'll be ok. but i agree w/Dark Ambience, when you have to get someone older ot buy the stuff, and supporting them by buying a drink or what-not.

I did just remember some young dude trying to get me to buy some for him while I was there.. but he didnt speak english that well, and I didnt really wanna get involved so I palmed him off.

He did look pretty young though. If all else fails, this could be an option for your. Assuming you are from the states, you could find some other yank to buy for you and just throw them a bud or a couple of Euro.
