Cannabis anxiety treatment- placebo?

Ok, so I use cannabis to treat my ADHD, but I started getting shitty side-effects - racing heart, racing thoughts, mild paranoia, occasional breakthrough panic attack. So I had to greatly reduce the dosage, and in turn the efficacy of my medicine as I don't want to go back to daily stim usage to treat what cannabis can (a remarkably safer long term drug, paradoxically illegal in my area). Just recently I discovered that intranasal administration (with a homemade device like this http://www.optinose.com/products/technical-overview) of 2-4 mg of an estimated 30-50% melatonin extract I made from 95% ethanol extraction of store bough melatonin pills, about 10 minutes prior to cannabis vapor inhalation completely eliminates unwanted side effects. So what do you guys think? Placebo? Here are a (perhaps) relevant studies:

Thanks.

Also, how damaging is that amount of powder going to be to my sinus cavities if I'm doing it every day? None of it winds up in my lungs because of the method of insufflation, and I use a nasal irrigator daily.

Melatonin is anxiolytic in action, prob not a placebo effect. Cannabis and melatonin have a nice synergistic effect too.
Damaging your nose? That really depends on what's in the powder. Nasal irrigation would likely be a good thing to do about it though.

How did you make your home made "insufflation devise"?

Bendy straw cut to size and the nipple from an oral syringe. Works much better than traditional methods. I got the inspiration from a post in OD that I can't seem to find now.
