25 MALE (so i dont get directed to women clinics/ phone line/ post pardem ect issues coming up)
hello, im in central Canada (manitoba) and well im at that point in my life where i feel depressed all the time (for a lot of reasons, i can be honest with myself).
I dont think im in crisis. im not going to hurt myself. i just know ive been depressed for far to long (i can admit it for a year atleast, everything before a year today is me being a arrogant ignorant fool and a blury haze of uncertainty)
Needless to say i feel ive been trying for over a year to "better" myself.

i think i really just need someone to talk to.
Does anyone have any ideas? i tried googling "manaitoba depression line" and all i could find was the crisis help line for people in suicidal thoughts or other things, (domestic abuse ect) which i dont think applies to me.
plus i know someone who works there. i will NEVER ever be able to call there. (im refering to the manitoba crisis line)
I live alone, go days/weeks/months without speaking to another human face to face (because of job). I really just need to vent it feels. blow the hatches (and not doing it with drugs for a change).

thanks (even posting this im in tears

I'm sorry you feel like this,

ill try to see what I can do for you, it's just someone you want to talk to? In the mean time while I'm looking around for a hotline which I'm not sure there is one for people just to talk to when lonely and sad, not to dishearten you. But have you thought about a therapist? They are great listeners and it might get you back in the social scene.

Skim through the thread and look for Canada, Its a long thread but be patient.

I do have an idea though I believe if you call a suicide hotline, and tell them what you are going through maybe they can give you a list of numbers better suited for your situation. I hope this helps.

Another idea is you should join this website, it's awesome and we have great Information on the dark side and mental health forums. Don't be shy we don't bite we help. Please get back and let us know if you found a number. If you join give me a Pm id love to chat with you. Take care!

Well i'm from Canada so if you want to chat anytime feel free to PM me. It goes without saying that anything you say goes no further then me. As far as someone to talk to goes suicide hotlines are all that is available in my province as far as i know. The medical establishment here does nothing other then send you off to the psych ward for a evaluation and shoot you full of Haldol.

It's sad how little this country cares about those who are mentally ill. I have bipolar disorder and i can honestly say that if it was not for some very good friends of mine that i can always talk to i would have probably have blew my brains out years ago. Sometimes talking is the best remedy for the shitty way you are feeling.

Some of my best supports have actually come from here, especially when I need to just " get it out." Stick around here and ull meet so fabulousnpeople who will always be here for ya..you can always pm me too, if u like...sory its the best I can offer.

You can see a psychiatrist (not psychologist) for free under your provincial health insurance. The amount of psychotherapy practices is going to vary tremendously by Doctor, but I've found good ones in other parts of the country.

And not to be flippant but if I lived in Manitoba I'd be depressed as fuck too. I'm sure it's not the only reason, but if you have the means to move to one of the 3 half-decent Canadian cities you definitely should do so.

^ Lol! Yeah the mere thought of having to live in Manitoba depresses me although i seriously doubt it could be much worse then living in Edmonton or Ottawa. I like Toronto the second best out of all the places I've lived in and it's not that bad of a city. I just like St.Johns more. I would like to get around to going to Montreal as it's supposed to be a pretty cool place.

Not in Canada so don't specifics of the climate where you are.
I'm in Melbourne Australia. Climate probably not as harsh as where u are but as I get older the cold, windy mostly missirible weather has a huge effect on my mood.
Here it is 7•c half the year and 40+•c for 2 months.
My olds live in Singapore, which is mostly 30•c with 80% humidity almost every day.
They basically have no seasons there but at least it's predicable.
I've found my extended stays there as I've aged much better for routine and general mental health.
It's horribly hot and steamy for the first 2 weeks and then you adjust.

My point is I guess that predictable mostly warm cities are a godsend for depression.
Don't get me wrong. Singapore is Disneyland where they hang people but with my depression I've come to really appreciate the predictable never changing weather. Sure it's 30•c every day of the year but I've found the warmth and the easy implementation of a ruitine so much easier to do in a place where the weather report is more or less pointless... Is there a warm spot in Canada?

Yeah. You can see one, after having to wait for months!!!!

BC Canada here.

I used to use meetup.com and craigslist to find groups or people to hang out with. Too bad if you were living around here we could get together for a few beers. I could use someone to talk to right about now as well.

Hang in there!

damn. unfortunately I'm in the states. It would be cool to grab some beers and actually be able to relate to someone else who is in the same boat as you. You can always pm me if you have any questions or concerns however.
